I don't know about censorship of the risque and salacious. but there was definitely more of an attempt at... localization. cultural references and such being dropped and over looked. and if we go way back to sandy frank and "battle of the planets" then a lot of death and destruction was edited out.

The same with Star Blazers, but less so with the death and destruction. They removed fan service and anything that was on the suggestive side. |

Conversely compared to the stuff I remember being availble on VHS from import. Well... a lot now is pretty tame.
Riding Bean had some sick folk as villians (Gun Smith Cats was much more tame though rally vincent does fight off a home invasion in her underwear) The Villian in the El Hazard OVAs was clearly implied to be a pedophile. The hero was forced to cross dress. The princess he was impersonating proved to be a salacious arrogant creeper. (and her lover was awfully short and juvenile looking) The original Tenchi OVAs had poop jokes and other strange humour. (edit) I nearly forgot to mention how every episode of the original AD police had sexual content. The central theme of that series seemed to be cyberpyschosis... which manifested in sexual ways. A 'boomer' which is stalking Leon clearly was getting turned on by the memory/idea of getting shot. A serial killer commits a form of suicide by inviting rape, because her cyberreplacements cause her to doubt not only her humanity but her womanhood. (don't ask it a whole episode). A robocop clone (inspiration?) is controlled/manipulated by his 'creater/doctor' dry humping him while wearing lingerie. ETC... Even the less Dark original 'Bubble Gum crisis' had a certain degree sexual implications. (minor characters being sexaroids for a example) And then... There was.. Urosokidoji: Legend of the overfiend. |

I feel old! Bull shit.. Ranma 1/2 had ranma playing with his own breast for everyone to see.. Sailor moon was being aired to 8+ year old of course there going to cut some shit. It just matters where and wen there being aired I have seen a lot of risky anime on the sci Fi channal back in the 80's Considering the SciFi channel is only 20 years old, unless you mean a different kind.. |

volcan_98 wrote: Anyone know when Funi will start to "simulcast" this series...or was the news they picked this up wrong? The news wasn't wrong, but consider that for each of their simulcasts this season the wording in their press release was "Full episodes will begin on www.funimation.com during spring 2012". That means they could start posting episodes in mid-June and still have done what they stated. One of their latest starts that I recall was Sekirei: Pure Engagement, which didn't start until over half the series had aired (I think episode 7 or 8 had aired in Japan when they finally started). That said, it isn't as if Funimation has never stated they were going to simulcast something and then failed to follow through. Shortly after CR announced their simulcast of Strike Witches 2, Funimation announced they had licensed it, and indicated they would also simulcast it. The season came and went, however, without Funimation posting a single episode. That didn't really draw much attention at the time since CR was simulcasting the series. |

Episode 6 So picking up from last time, Wanko realizes that she's in a real horror movie involving a zombie (a hot zombie actually). And after one of the longest "kiss" of the Spring Season so far, there's definitely some complications... ![]() Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Also, it seems that the hydrangea leaves restores her humanity? ![]() Chihiro decides to take responsibility and asks his Dad a big favor. Wonder why? I'm guessing it's because he sees her as a girl rather than a zombie now? Hmm, only time will tell. It also seems that Wanko doesn't like the current circumstances: ![]() Dat surprise: Spoiler Alert!
