I found this show disgusting, dropped it after episode 3.

I tried. I tried. I TRIED SO HARD! But the anime was SOOOOOOOOOO BOOOOOOOOORING! And the girl and her stupid ass anti-touch/anti-sex attitude got to me so I dropped the anime at episode 3 and gave it a 3/10 on MyAnimeList.

I learned something while in America: Apparently, facts are un-american.

One of my favorites of the year. Don't listen to the downers above, give it a try! Love the manga too.

I think it's better if you've read the manga first.

Agreed. Nazo + Kitsune = ^^ I get people's grief on the theme and the pacing, it can be quite slow, but if you don't try to make it all about the ecchi that is dangled in front of you and more about how the characters interact and grow together, it's acceptable. I liked it a lot. |

Wished there was more to the ending, but it's open for a season 2. Just something different I guess. Have not seen the OVA yet.

I liked it a lot. I read something that addresses that in one of the volume extras a while back. (which I, sadly enough, cannot find on my hard drive or on the web anymore... to the point that I was wondering if I actually read it... ) It talked about the reason that he placed the age of the characters in the 16/17 year-old age range. He said something to the effect of:If you tell a story about two middle school students who are attracted to each other and end up spending the night together, your assumption is that they would not have sex, if the same story were told about college age students, you would assume they would. High school is the middle ground where you don't really know what will happen. They are legally old enough*, but inexperienced, so they may or may not. [* In Japan, and most US States, but not all...] That age group holds a great wealth of narrative possibilities. I think that is part of the reason that so many romance stories are set at that age. In that same author's note section, he talked about how he thinks that modern youth are too quick to enter into physically intimate relationships and this story is about the wonders of the pre-sexual relationship and the joys and sorrows the emotional roller-coaster (my word, not his) that such relationships put you on provide. From that point of view, once the relationship reaches a point of physical intimacy, the mystery is gone and the story over! It is a story about the journey, not the destination! And what a journey it has been, and hopefully, will be again! |

And what a journey it has been, and hopefully, will be again! Ah, yes... I do remember that comment section. I think it is best described as a definitive period of temptation and the spurs of youth. You learn a lot when you are 16 or 17, more about others than yourself usually, but definitely that middle ground plays a huge role. It's that lighthearted, almost tongue-in-cheek approach to intimacy and adolescence that really gives Nazokanojo it's appeal. ^^ |

I loved it. I really hope there is a season 2.
And fortunately, Zensunni explained who the mysterious kitsune characters were over on MAL. |
