Mysterious Girlfriend X

Episode 3's continuation of the saliva contagion by introducing a test tube component almost reached my breaking point of tolerance about spit as a focal point in this story. Thankfully, to the art animation director's credit, the story went off in another direction a few frames later and called my attention away from that detail.
I admire Urabe's character portrayal re self ownership in this story. She unhesitatingly took charge and "ordered" Tsubaki to leave the new suitor alone and not interfere. Communication, very important; establishing boundaries early, tantamount. So far Urabe is captain of her fate in this story. Let's see which way she sails. |

To the people obsessing to the use of saliva in this story: Grow Up
The bond Urabe and Tsubaki share (the bond of love to be cheesy ) is being represented via this medium, think of it as a metaphor. Its just a bit of saliva, if you've ever kissed someone open mouthed you would have exchanged a fair amount of it tooNow back to what I hoped this forum would be about. I just finished watching Episode 3, enjoyed it very much, I believe the team behind the series are translating the manga chapters into anime form superbly, top notch in all departments. Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide I do enjoy the idea that the bond between the protagonists is only possible between them as was highlighted when Urabe performed the saliva test on the other kid and it had no effect, very sweet The feeling of a unique bond between two loved ones can strengthen the ties they have to one another I believe and this latest episode highlighted this in an interesting way One thing I'm wondering, does anyone know if this series is going to be 13 episodes, 26 or what? I'm hoping for as many as possible of course |

@AnimeKami: It's too early to tell. If this is a 12 episode escapade we're only 25% through the telling. I would wait and see. The spit issue is an item each viewer must weigh individually as to whether it contributes or detracts.
For me it's a positive because this is an etiquette boundary not often tested in a storyline unless we're observing a biop of a client reacting to certain medications while in therapy or incarceration in an asylum (1975 flick One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest with Jack Nicholson et al). It's a different approach for attracting viewer attention, that's for sure, which will evaporate instantaneously if overdone. |

Hmm.. What can I say??
Innuendo this, innuendo that, innuendo everywhere! Not something I wasn't expecting since reading the description on ANN. Well I read the description and was like "LICKING DROOL?!?! WTF?!?!" so I checked it out. Hey, is it wrong to act according your own curiosity? Gotta say... It's certainly interesting. Can't exactly relate to it but puberty is a confusing mess, especially if you grow up in a religious community. I've got a challenge for anyone who's interested. When watching, see if you can spot any innuendo besides the frequent excretion of bodily fluids (scissors are not counted, that's just too obvious). |

I have not read the manga and I'm watching the anime to start with, I have a theory. (I came up with this theory in episode 2 and as I'm typing this I have not watched episode 3 yet but I have it qued up to watch later.)
My theory is that the girl is a giant Bug. Are your minds blown now? |

Episode 4 So, it's summer time. Fun in the sun, no homework (well, in most cases), and of course this: Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide ![]() ![]() Dat dream, every boyfriend's dream come true: ![]() Well, the title of the episode describes it pretty well. Girl meets girl (not in a yuri way) but to form a friendship. Strange stuff do happen though. Supernatural strange stuff. Interesting episode as it involves more on Ukabe and another character rather than the MC this time. Next week, beach episode. Inb4 fan-service. |

Episode 4 was very good! I heartily approve of the added scenes that were not in the manga, and think they hit the Oka/Urabe relationship right on the nose in terms of tone. For all of the people thinking the story just turned Yuri, you couldn't be more wrong!

Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide supernatural property to Urabe's drool. I mean, I saw it coming, but I am disappointed. However, I still think it's turning into something interesting. |

The drool made everyone go
Not those that read the anime, but I'm sure it did before when they started reading as well..Even the weird twist of "special bonds" through drool, which kreeps me out a lil.. I still keep coming back, and it must be for some reason.. I like it |
