I absolutely love the way the director is adapting the manga! He is taking a great slice-of-life manga, putting it into a coherent order, and providing continuity to the plot.

For those that haven't read it, the manga has serious issues with seasonal stories that defy rationality, while having an overarching story that needs continuity in terms of the order of the stories. I was really worried that the anime would be all over the place because of that, but this director is doing it extremely well!

I must say Urabi sure has a willing Akira honed on a tight leash. In samurai settings you would see the woman walk a few paces behind the man. Not so in certain settings in this particular episode. Ah, how times have changed in our modern sophisticated societies. With so many servings of subtleties this series is truly ice cream for the soul.

If the anime does shadow the manga some plz, plz simulate Chapter 26. LOL. I knew college girlfriends who felt this way.

Probably my comments are most likely prejudice but I don't care because I am not watching this anime. He licks the drool omg why!!!! what kind of normal person, cross that what kind of sane person does that. Second, he gets sicks with the drool and stuff and she comes to cure him using her drool and saying "your body is having withdrawal because you like me". I was already sick at that, not because of the story but the drool licking stuff. I'm kind of gross out by my own saliva, now. I was about to quit when he confessed his feelings to the girl. And I got pulled out once she vomitted drool. OMG gross too gross. Sorry if I am too critical and prejudice with this. But probably one of the grossest anime ever, plot wise it is alright with some cliche and art work not too impressed. C'mon illustrators were in 2012.

go watch boku no pico then come back or chobits.

on the show... well I loved it personally it's visually nice to look at in a retro way, very clean and the funnier part is i was in high school when he in 2001. So I can really connect to this character on more even level because Akira Tsubaki would be 26/27 by now lol

I don't mind visual because it's not about how it looks but the story. But personally I like clean looking and new visuals, pretty, cute.(call me shallow anime watcher). It's just the drool liking part, grossed me out too much. I wish they would change it to kissing instead of licking the drool of her finger. Hope that happens in the future and when it does let me know because I will watch it. But as of now, I'm going to put it on hold because I don't like that concept, again kinda grossed out with my saliva. I need ice cream

If they took the drool out I wouldn't be interested in the series. If you replace the drool with kissing then you have a typical romance series.

I gotta admit, I was like, 'what in the world??' when I saw Tsubaki lick the drool that was on her desk. and it also threw me off seeing the art, the old-school feel, it put me in the mind of the early 2000s/late 90's. Once I got past the drool factor, the plot was so different from the usual, 'guy like girl, girl smacks the shit out of guy/treats guy like shit' deal. It got me curious enough to want to read the manga, and man, it's actually pretty good! I'm sold!

Read the manga all the way to current end though now wish I had not. Show is shadowing story well. I don't know how many episodes MGX is allotted so do hope it does reveal some of the future feats of manga brilliance before concluding. Great show, director had opportunities in a few places to really go salacious but, correctly, opted to keep it magical instead.

I've been a fan of the manga for a long time now. When I herd that the anime was coming out I was really excited and after watching it I still am. P Love MGFX because its so unique with its story telling and it lives up to its title lol. I'm a hopeless romantic so i can kind of relate to it except for the panty scissors of course lol

Don't get me wrong! I love the manga!

However, it is slice-of-life, not one continuous story. Sure, the relationship progresses and the events that have happened are occasionally referred to, but the mangaka doesn't bother to keep the timeline in mind when writing, leading to multiple switches between summer and winter uniforms, such that they should be midway through college if each of those mini summer sections were actually a full year apart.

I think what he does is write stories that fit the season that the manga is going to be published in. It has been a monthly manga since 2006, and that matches pretty well with the number of times he has switched uniforms. What the anime director is doing really well is taking the great stories that the mangaka wrote, and putting it into a more coherent story structure than it originally was.

Take episode 7 for instance.

Episode 8

Tsubaki's dreams just keeps getting weirder and weirder each episode:

Tsubaki's fantasies hits high points this episode, oh my. But hey, it's all normal right? I mean, he's a healthy teenage kid and puberty will hit him faster than a bullet train.

However, Urabe is not your typical little girl and she's not letting anyone touch her easy:

Tears running through and imaginations flashing in this episode in the light of the rain. Very unusual indeed...I can only imagine where their "relationship" will go now. But there's one thing Tsubaki should do imo, and that's to apologize for making a girl cry. Because that's unforgivable.

Overall, loved this episode :)

Awesome anime adaptation.

Been reading the manga for a long time now, and was happy to hear it would be an anime series.

For those who don't like the drool tasting, close your eyes or don't watch the series.

The drool is a plot device that drives the story. It can convey feelings, thoughts and emotions between Urabe and Tsubaki.

Overall, they've done a good job so far.

Too bad it is only 12 episodes though

Yes, in just seven episodes he has already used the desire to see their girlfriends in summer gym uniforms, to see their bikinis in winter, etc. It is fun and funny and brings back some memories from looong ago...

The drool interaction makes me think of why they can't kiss directly... It would probably blow their minds, simultaneously sensing each other's thoughts and desires and feelings. I am sure it will happen eventually and should be entertaining!

Just twelve episodes? Might have to break down and buy and read the Manga in that case... I hate suspense...

When they do finally kiss directly they will probably already feel exactly the same before the act. The kiss itself will probably be a better experience for both.

There is one event, I don't want to see: Tsubaki meeting Urabe's parents.
