^ this has been discussed in the past.

Advertising to a great extent will turn CR into a you tube, and that means more restrictions to the anime that can be uploaded to the site. If CR is advertised to such a great extent, it will turn into another YouTube, and this thought has sparked many vehement dissents from the users of CR.

because that would make it more famous and we wouldnt want that.
speaking of which im pretty sure you could post in this because by advertising you could make it more popular http://www.crunchyroll.com/showforumtopic?id=3897. We all dont want that though.

Oh, and I think you mean "sponsors", not advertisers. The advertiser in the sense of what you were talking about would be CrunchyRoll itself.

^ well, getting sponsorships can be a bit tricky ~ moreover if it will be for monetary purposes. Most sponsors would like to give anything BUT money (unless it were a charitous institution - in cases like this, giving monetary compensation would be a form of tax shelter).

Think of it this way... lets say Shinji goes up to the hot shots in Google and asks them to sponsor the site. Of course, He'd have to present his marketing package ~ what Google can get out of sponsoring CR, and what CR would like in return.

I'm assuming your idea of "advertising" CR would have Shinji asking for monetary assistance in running the site. This is what I meant when I said this would be hard to do, because asking for monetary assistance is not that marketable unless the company asking for sponsorship were a charitous institution.

Maybe if Shinji went up to a technology corporation that could sponsor Shinji by giving him new equipment. This is something more feasible that monetary assistance.

^ the current advertisments have little monetary value (especially since it's limited to non-supporters).

No, No more on Crunchyroll, Shinji isn't a huge rich company that actually gains tons of cash from people viewing... :3 He loses. So lets all be nice and DON'T advertise Crunchyroll.
