Kekekek, being me, I'm very self-conscious, being an 18 year old walking into a store saying "I would like to buy this DVD of One Piece, and this new anime with girls showing huge titties on them, and this special anime with a grown man and a some-what-little girl on the cover blushing at each other looking like the grown man was having naughty thoughts about her" I would be embarrassed.

I would be embarrassed even if I just buy One Piece DVD. Even though I have friends that like the same stuff as I do, like One Piece, I still wouldn't be comfortable going into Blockbuster and order an anime without being uncomfortable.

Yeah, cover art sorta kills it in some cases.

But I got a shopping list of different shows I want on dvd.

Clannad (everything)
Angel Beats
Steins Gate
Nisemonogatari
Bakemonogotari
Kanon
ToraDora
Trigun
Outlaw star

I think that'll be about it for anime stuff. Also need to get scrubs seasons 1-8 on dvd, If I can find Ungo, I might want to pick that up as well, but I'll settle for a sound track with that ending song on it.

I can't tell if your initial posting is serious or dry wry wit. Living in the Midwest as I do I find it best to have it clandestinely delivered, preferably in a plain unadorned box, from some faraway place like Iowa. Because I'm such a cheep skate I can't afford delivery by Brown (aka UPS) and must rely humbly upon the public sector. So as not to garner unnecessary neighborly arousal or reprisal I have resorted to having the delivery vehicles resemble US Postal trucks. This way my anime purchases aren't obvious. No one knows what's in those brown cartons and it's highly likely no one in my neighborhood cares. I appear as 1 of with the local populace.

Every great once in a while I get very brave and overstep the boundaries of innocuousness and order something straight from across the Big Pond via the internet. These EMS shipped boxes are also deliberately disguised to appear as ordinary parcels. Eight times out of ten a private citizen delivers these using an unmarked freshly washed shiny new vehicle. Since I must sign for these I'm 300% positive my neighbors must think these are medications since I am old. Little are they aware the contents are 1/8th scale PVC figurines, of which the majority rate PG13 (they wear clothes, not nude).

I would think in today's marketplace you're probably more self-conscious about being embarrassed purchasing risque material than you need to be. The religious Inquisition belittling interests outside the Chosen line of Thought faded several decades ago so unless your main source of anime plunder is a store run by the Amish or Mennonite sect or in the middle of your grandparents' drugstore you have little need for great concern.

Hahaha it's happened to me before buying mature rated DVDs like Corpse Princess and the clerk chick looks at my ID says "HOLY CRAP YOU'RE 22?"

apparently I look 15 or something

I'm serious. although buying dvd's is probably easier to do than figurines :P

but yeah, I've lived in a neighborhood before with busybodies and such. A well connected one, in fact. it's scary and funny to me how they can change the way people look at you XD

I'm a bit more interested in the story though. I'm a sucker for those stories that make you ball like a baby, but can still be exciting and energetic. It's awesome how some have the full range of human emotion in them ^_^
