I understand that CR has certain laws and legal needs to adhere to but what i do not understand is why they have censored the new show Queen's blade' Rebellion, the original series is not censored on this site, i find it awful that they have censored it. Can someone who is in charge of the site please make it not censored?

This is the first time that Cruncyroll has gotten Queen's Blade as a simulcast rather than a library title. I suspect that this time around, Media Blasters did a co-op deal with CR so CR could simulcast the free to air version(AT-X which has the uncensored version probably wanted to wait until the DVDs and the BDs come out before giving Media Blasters the uncensored materials). Media Blasters might upgrade the episodes to the uncensored version once they are able to release it on home video.

That makes sense but i still feel it is a waste of effort to the censor if they are going to just undo it in the future...

I should be clear about something: I don't know what happens with the negotiations that Crunchyroll makes with licensors and/or R1 licensees like Sentai Filmworks or Media Blasters. I can only make educated guesses based on information from sites like Anime News Network and precedent on Crunchyroll.

Media Blasters and Crunchyroll partnering together for the contract to acquire Queen's Blade Rebellion from Media Factory(the publisher listed and the Japanese licensor) makes sense for both parties because it benefits both Media Blasters and Crunchyroll.

Media Blasters is a company that has had some financial trouble lately(see ANN articles about their layoffs and them having to delay some of their titles from getting a home video release), but still has resources that Crunchyroll does not have. Queen's Blade is their highest selling anime title(I think you can guess why) and if they had a way to lessen their costs for acquiring QBR, that would be very benefical for them. Enter Crunchyroll.

Crunchyroll wants to get as many of the current airing anime as they can possibly get. Indeed, they express interest in streaming every anime . Crunchyroll can afford to pay a Minimium Guarantee(MG) that most licensors will agree to contract with Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll also benefits from getting series as close to their airing in Japan as they can possibly get, and they benefit from being able to stream further than just North America.

And thus, Media Blasters and Crunchyroll both have an interest in cooperating so they both benefit from QBR being simulcast. Crunchyroll's MG for QBR is likely going towards Media Blasters's own MG to have a home video release of QBR, and I would gather that each view of the stream also goes to paying the last 1/3 of Media Blasters's MG as well.

Depending on how the contract is written, as consideration for Crunchyroll's role in the partnership, Media Blasters could upgrade what Crunchyroll has after they have done their home video release or they might not. Whether or not Crunchyroll eventually gets QBR uncensored, the effort to acquire QBR has not been wasted. It helps keep Media Blasters's costs down, and it could help them stay in business if QBR sells very well. This would naturally lead to more Media Blasters content on Crunchyroll(like Bakuman for example).

Agila61 or one of the other posters who are knowledgeable about this can correct me on how I have phrased things or expand on what I've said, but tl:dr Media Blasters and Crunchyroll both benefit from Queen's Blade Rebellion being simulcast.

Yeah i understand that it is all about costs and business and stuff alike, that's all well and good but it kind of ruins the show if you have sudden spheres and bands of light running across the video screen. In essence i understand where your coming from and what is happening with the anime but i still think it ruins the show a little bit.

It's all a marketing ploy by the actual anime companies to try and get you to buy the Blueray/DVD's. It's the case with most of these kind of Anime's. or so I've heard...

They aren't undoing anything. There are two version airing a censored version and uncensored version. I assume they just weren't allowed to stream the uncensored. If they had it may have been members only.

Neither Crunchyroll (or Media Blasters, if they are indeed involved) are censoring anything. Crunchyroll is simply being provided with the same version that is offered on broadcast TV in Japan (vs. a premium station like AT-X, where it premieres). I wouldn't be surprised if the AT-X contract gives it the exclusive on the uncensored version for a specific period of time.

Frankly, I suspect Media Blasters may not be involved with this at all. While they had stated their intent to license the series, CR licensing it for simulcast certainly doesn't prevent that. It may be in their interest to let CR stream it, and then license it later, closer to when they could release a physical product and re-coup their investment.

Their is no waste, as it is being censored back in Japan for broadcast. Even if CR could have gotten the uncensored version (AT-X's contract may very well give them the exclusive), it would have cost much more; probably more than CR would have recouped by having the uncensored version.

I'm okay with the censoring, though the censoring is done poorly. I just feel they could have chose a better method for censoring tits than BLINDING WHITE LIGHT. I really do believe the Queen's Blade censurers should watch more majikoi to get a greater grasp of the art of censoring tits.

If you want the uncensored version, how much are you willing to pay? I guarantee you that licensing the uncensored version will cost a lot more.
