Warning: Some pictures NSFW

Internet Disease, A.K.A. "MySpace Voodoo" or "The Angles", Internet Disease means displaying old, faded, blurred or otherwise non-descript photographs of oneself, taken with bad lighting and at awkward angles, on the Internets in order to make you appear more attractive to people online than you are IRL. Internet disease was invented in 1998 by Natsuki, a reverse weeaboo (Japanese) living in Michigan at the time.

Getting to the point~
Do you think it's wrong to use creative lighting, faded pictures, high contrast, etc, to make oneself more attractive looking?

For example: Me
EDIT: I don't ever use photoshop to edit myself. Really. I tried to, once, and ultimately failed at it. And besides, I was only trying to get rid of acne. Luckily, most of my zits are gone now, but some redness still remains. And I certainly think, now that I've matured a little, and my blemishes are mostly gone, I'm okay looking, which is good for me. And my friends always used to tell me, back in the day, even when I had acne, I was pretty. I try not to put myself down. The lower contrast picture isn't bad, it's fairly decent. And I'm proud of actually getting in front of the camera after such a long time of avoiding it, ya know?
Lower contrast

Higher contrast

Other Examples:

FGAS (Fat Girl Angle Shot)

High Contrast:

Photo Manipulation (Photoshopping)

Misleading Thumbnail

And don't be too offended by the article. It's Encyclopedia Dramatica & they make fun of fucking everything and everyone.

nope, i don't think its bad if it isn't mandatory . Although i have to ask do you feel pretty just taking normal pictures? because if not then I think it could be bad if you don't think you look good enough without photo manipulation

It is kind of hard to say. On one hand it is the internet and not really all that important whether it really shows someone as they really are. On the other hand though it really does just kind of show that a person isn't fully confident in putting themselves out there as they are. At least that is my opinion. If the pictures aren't really trying to lure in people then I don't see as much of a problem with it. But if someone is looking for some kind of relationship then it is just going to go badly when the persons sees the truth and make them wonder what else could be getting edited to make the person look better. Same could be said about other things though as well like makeup, padded bras and body shaping items.

I dunno really, as long as one isn't really trying to mislead people with it I don't really see a big problem with it.
Not that it matters much to me anyway, I don't really look at pictures of people when I'm online anyway, and in the end it's not the looks that matter either I guess.
Even so, I have to say you look pretty cute in those pictures.

It really blows me when girls do that stuff, because I see their profile pic and I be like "Oh she bad let me add/follow her" and then I see some other pictures and I'm disappointed.

I added a girl on facebook the other day, she accepted seen some other pictures, click delete real quick.

i dont think people should have to use photoshop or anything to make themselves look better, there will always be people who think something bad about you and alot of it ends up based on how you look and you just have to stay positive.after all a girl can be beautiful in the picture but that doesnt mean there personality is the same.
