Yesterday, April 12th, "Euereka Seven: AO" aired its very first episode! :D

ES:AO is the sequel of the anime/manga "Eureka Seven", the mecha/love story that we have come know and love. Crunchyroll has a contract with the studios in-charge of the original series (Eureka Seven), and continues to stream free for all visitors of the website. ES:AO is being produced by the same people (BONES). I can only assume that this means that the Cunchryroll team obtain a new licensing contract with BONES in order to stream this new show.

What do you guys think? Have you heard/read any news on this matter? Any information would be greatly appreciated! :3

From an article I saw on ANN, it looks like Bandai Visual is distributing the series since they are soliciting English subtitles for the Japanese BDs of the series.

Don't know what this means for CR getting it, but I assume they are still in negotiations for it and we won't know otherwise until 7 weeks go by or Funico announces or if CR themselves announce they have it.

Ahh, my bad. I knew I was messing something up in there xD

I hope they get the license, I'm a really big fan of the original show. Not so much for the movie though, it was...different.

Ever since I heard of E7 AO I was almost positive CR would get it since they have the original and I was totally bummed when I didn't find it here...

Frankly I was pretty surprised of the titles Crunchyroll got this season. The only ones I had a feeling they'd get were Medaka Box and Saint Seiya. Eureka Seven AO would have been a nice addition, but oh well.

It will be interesting to see what happens with this. Has a bit of a Evangelion feel to it.

Its not clear if Eureka 7 AO is one they are going to be licensing out or one they are going to be selling themselves as a Direct English Exports at those insane prices that the Japanese fans pay.

That is, either the subtitle is being done by a licensor, in which case we ought to hear about the license sometime soon ... or they are doing the subtitle themselves to support their own direct sale of BD's, whether as one of these Direct English Export sets or just for the people who buy Japanese releases as imports.

Unless somebody announces anything by this time next week, then it could end up being a series that doesn't get streamed until its time to support the distribution of the BDs/DVDs in North America.

That's a little confused about how you go about building excitement for a series, but sometimes that kind of confusion happens when crossing national boundaries.
