Well picking smell over taste would be logical because while your taste would be affected it would not be as if it was gone completely. I'm not exactly sure what giving up touch would mean, I wouldn't choose it if it mean i culdn't feel pain or anything at all... So I'd go with smell too

Actually, a majority of your taste sensations would be gone along with your smell. In fact, some people clump the two senses together as one, being the sense of smell.
Try this for fun. Next time you have a massive cold, note how things taste. Then tell us what you find out =3

I agree. I had a the flu a couple weeks ago for three days. I could not taste anything. All I could "taste" was the texture of the food

ok..so its hard to decide on physical senses...what about psycological ones? what would you prefere to loose from all of what ppl would call emotions and feelings?

Sorry if this seems off-topic Sharuda, but some might argue that these are senses too.. =]

Lol, yeah that sucks.
ahaha now everyones saying Taste.

Without taste, eating would lose a lot of its purpose (or at least thats how you'd probably feel), and also it could affect your health. 1. You wouldn't be able to taste poisons/alcohol/etc, and 2. You may eat something off or wrong, and it may not be noticeable just from tasting it.

Actually...this is really weird. If you lose your sense of "taste", but still have your sense of smell, then what the hell?
There may be a point in clumping taste and smell together as one sense =3

Yes.
It's like those questions, would you rather be crippled or _____?
Either way, you're fcuked. lol

(I'd like to add here, the people who do lose these kinds of things that we take for granted are really quite unfortunate (in my eyes), and deserve a little more consideration than us who are fortunate to still have these things.)

wow thats why i put the thread up to influence people into caring about people who have lost something like this. i've known a few people who have had senses taken away due to accidents and they live there life normally. some people see them as crippled, it annoys the crap outta me

How very thoughtful of you. =3

In a sense, they are crippled, or at least disadvantaged. Course, it would be morally right (I think) to take into consideration their own feelings and such, and act upon that, having a moderation of care/facilities, as well as having them do things for themselves, or whatever things to do.
But things would get complex, and society would never put that much time/effort/resources into perfecting such a world.
That, and society rules many/almost all human lives, can't get away from it if you want to keep on living. Sucks.
