CNBLUE’s Lee Jungshin to make his acting debut through ‘My Daughter Soyoung’

CNBLUE‘s Lee Jungshin has been cast to play a main character in the upcoming KBS weekend drama, ‘My Daughter Soyoung‘. The new drama, scheduled for broadcast after ‘You Who Rolled In Unexpectedly‘, will be directed by PD Yoo Hyun Gi, who also directed ‘God of Study‘ and ‘Brain‘. The plot will revolve around a distant father and his daughter.

“Lee Jungshin has been receiving calls from many dramas,” said FNC Entertainment. “He has spent a lot of time studying acting. He also wants to act very much and has a strong attitude [towards acting]. Please look forward to it.”

With this new development, all of the CNBLUE members – Jung Yonghwa, Lee Jonghyun, and Kang Minhyuk - will have acting experience.

‘My Daughter Soyoung’ will air its first episode on September 15th.

Park Jung Ah confirmed for ‘My Daughter Soyoung’

Singer and actress Park Jung Ah has been cast for KBS‘s new drama ‘My Daughter Soyoung‘. She has been cast to play a daughter of a wealthy family and actor Lee Sang Yoon‘s younger sister. The character is said to be a tough, yet beautiful doctor.

The singer-turned-actress will be joining other previously confirmed cast members Choi Jung Won, Kim Ji Hoon, Lee Sang Yoon, and CNBLUE‘s Jungshin.

With several dramas under her belt, this will hopefully be another successful project in the blooming acting career for the former Jewelry member. In related news, ‘My Daughter Soyoung’ will be taking the time slot of ‘You Who Rolled in Unexpectedly‘ starting on September 15th.

Kim Ji-hoon cast in comeback drama with Choi Jung-won

Good news: Kim Ji-hoon is out of the army and has a new drama! Bad news: It’s not a Joseon X-Files sequel. Sigh. Oh well, you can’t have everything. (Still: The hope lives on…)

The project is a KBS weekend drama titled My Daughter So-young, and the production company has confirmed that Kim Ji-hoon will be reuniting with his Wish Upon a Star co-star Choi Jung-won. Good news: They were totally adorable together in that. Bad news: They’re playing twins. Eek! Where will all that romantic chemistry go? We’re just chock-full of halfway-filled glasses today.

Kim Ji-hoon’s character is the peacemaker middleman between his sister and their father Chun Ho-jin, who seems to specialize in playing negligent fathers (he was the weak-willed two-timer dad in Will It Snow For Christmas, the weak-willed president and absentee dad in City Hunter, and the uber-strong-willed but violent police-chief dad in Gaksital). The main storyline of the show is the “simultaneously close and distant relationship between a father and daughter, and their reconciliation.” Oof, that could be really good stuff; well-scripted father-daughter conflicts have a way of getting to me.

Choi Jung-won, Lee Sang-yoon

That means the main romantic pairing goes to Choi Jung-won and Lee Sang-yoon (The Duo). I guess there are no hard feelings when Lee Sang-yoon got un-cast from director Yoo’s last drama Brain, even though Lee expressed disappointment in the late-game recasting hullaballoo last year.

Park Jung-ah (Smile Dong-hae) also joins the cast as Lee Sang-yoon’s younger sister; I wonder if that means she’ll be Kim Ji-hoon’s romantic partner. Or maybe they’ll just be sidekicks to their dating siblings. Somehow I doubt it; family dramas tend to love pairing up everyone and tying everything up in neat bows. Joining them is CN Blue idol Lee Jung-shin, though there isn’t any info yet on his role.

Furthermore, My Daughter So-young has a solid production team onboard; it’s written by So Hyun-kyung of 49 Days, Brilliant Legacy and Prosecutor Princess, which were pretty solidly written and had distinct crack-y traits. PD Yoo Hyun-ki of Brain and God of Study directs.

My Daughter So-young premieres on September 15.

My Daughter So-young recasts with Lee Bo-young, Park Hae-jin

Casting change! Upcoming weekend drama My Daughter So-young originally cast Choi Jung-won and Kim Ji-hoon in the lead roles, but both actors dropped the project, reportedly due to scheduling conflicts. Hm, curious, that. Sadly that means no Wish Upon a Star reunion after all. The titular role of daughter So-young will now be played by Lee Bo-young (Equator Man), and her twin brother will be played by Park Hae-jin (East of Eden, Hot-Blooded Salesman).

She is a mama's girl who grew up in the protection of her mother (Song Ok-sook). She revolts to her mother for the first time in the process of loving Sang-woo (Park Hae-jin).

Choi Yoon-yeong-I claims, "Ho-jeong is a fantasy character. I am not afraid of breaking down for this character. I am about to set a good daughter example for fathers".
