Nothing much to say Stark? What about the every end with the part about the rope and not asking Haba?

My reaction to that was wait, what? And pretty much looked like Oreki. lol

I'll say this:

But then of course, it seems that Oreki fucked up on something this episode so looking forward to see what's going to happen next time. I do admit that the revelation sort of took me by surprise as I did not suspect the outcome of the mystery. Maybe I got distracted by the terrible acting of the actors in the movie.

My reaction to that is the curiosity eyes of Eru. Actually speaking of her, it seems that she wanted to say something near the end but held it to next time which now arouses my own curiosity of what she had in mind. Regarding the rope, I have no idea what that relates to right now.

However, I do think that the rope relates to something like this:

So all in all, this arc is not over as Oreki did not completely solve this mystery. Hopefully he can though, but with more help next time from his friends

I want to watch it. The synopsis sounds interesting!
The problem is, I don't know a site where I can watch it on my iPhone.

Episode 11

Yup, Oreki messed up so now it's time to fix the mistake.

It also seems that there's some suspense around Hongou-san. A setting, characters, a murder. Oh the drama. There's also some info on Tarot cards and their origins as well as their representations. For those who watched Arcana Familiga on this day might draw some similarities.

Perspective huh?

Im still trying to figure out if Hongou is dead or alive but sick... Chitanda made it sound like she died.

It was infuriating to watch this episode - everyone's accusations on Oreki really angered me.

"Oh, you solved the mystery but that's not how it was suppose to be!!! FIX IT!"

Give the guy a break, he "solved" the mystery to a level where you couldn't even imagine to fix and now you're picking out every mistake he made? To me, the characters just seem selfish and they are. Oreki spends a lot of effort to do what he did and he spent more well beyond that. Humans are just creatures that cannot be satisfied, I guess.

I thought Irisu-senpai was a good character but then we find out what she really is - a manipulative bitch. I liked her but now she angered me along with the rest of the cast.

Why can't I hold all this anger?

What? An episode against Oreki?
I don't want to watch this episode anymore.

I think a better title for the series would be "The Education of Oreki Houtarou, or A History of Mysteries". :)

This arc was clever since the mystery really wasn't what we thought it was.

I love this show and it was high on my list at the beginning of last season. The reason? Well when I first saw it promoted on one of those upcoming season posters I noticed the picture was of 4 characters. 2 guys and 2 girls. Most are either all girls, all guys, or one guy surrounded by a bevy of girls (harem) or a girl surrounded by a bunch of bishies (reverse harem) or some kind of huge ensemble cast poster. This one was very unusual for the anime medium, so I had a feeling it would be good.

I generally don't like to watch a lot of shounen or mecha shows, as I feel like I outgrew that stuff years ago. And while I can appreciate a good comedy or RomCom every now and then, and even a show that can be a little ecchi or something from time to time, a lot of my favs tend to be shows that are a bit different than the norm. And Hyouka fits the bill. It's not full of the usual tropes & cliche's found in so many other shows....like the guy surrounded by a bunch of hot chicks who are all the usual stock characters you always see in such shows...or the emo or angst filled main character who sets out to be the best _______ like you see in so many Shonen Jump titles. This show is different from all that.

I like how Fukube isn't the typical generic comedic foil to the main character. The relationship between the 2 main characters in this show is very different than when their respective VA's last worked together on "Clannad"

And I like the relationship the main character Oreki has with Mayaka, the other female lead. Instead of just being the other girl who likes him also, she is the opposite. A girl who USED to like/date him, but now can't stand him now that she knows the real Oreki. Fukube's joke in the 2nd ep about "how are the school's best couple doing?" and their retort to it was so refreshing.

I could go on and on about what I like about it, but to just sum up what AnimeKami was asking near the beginning of the thread -

What did I watch / what is the story about: a character driven show about a guy named Oreki who doesn't like to put forth much effort into anything, but who has a keen mind and a talent for solving mysteries, and the supporting cast who help him to realize this and to change into a more proactive person.

What is the genre/theme: I'd say it's a Slice of life show about little mysteries and how this main character grows from a guy who cares about and gets involved in nothing to a character who is more proactive about life and his abilities.

As for why am I watching: Well like a lot of others I do like the quality of animation and the character designs are great, but in addition to that and the characterization, I watch this because of the quality of direction from Takemoto Yasuhiro. Good direction also attracts me to a series as it grabs my attention and makes me look at how they're presenting the story.

And what did I like about this latest ep: Well Stark already posted the pic of Chitanda-san in the maid getup, and the fact that we finally got a glimpse of Oreki's sister at the beginning was good, but especially......THE VOCALOID COSPLAYS!!!!! Oh boy, the rumors were true!!! Thank you Crypton for letting KyoAni do this. That was soooo awesome!!! Look forward to seeing more next week!

Oh yeah, and the other pics of Chitanda-san in the other cute getups were awesome too. And how she kept getting distracted so easily was hilarious.

This episode was one of the better ones recently, it was cute and funny (and there was no obnoxious Oreki criticism). The cosplays were true, yesh! And that ED... I friggin' LOVE it.... <3

Episode 13

New OP!!! Quite catchy and lol'd @ the ending of the the opening. It is also quite metaphoric and seems to be quite unique. Might watch the opening from now every episode.

Quiz festival! Try the questions yourself before the answer is revealed :P

Anyways, decent episode.

Episode 13 was Decent, though I do wish Hyouka would pick up the pace. I feel it's moving a little slow in these last few episodes where as the first 3 or 4 were pretty excellent imo.

Also, KyoAni stays showing off with every scene. Very few series are animated as well as Hyouka. Damn you KyoAni and all of your riches! If only other studios had your resources!

I agree with you about how the characters and their relationships are much better than your average show, but I think you misunderstood something in Episode 2 if you think that Mayaka and Oreki used to date! Yes, Satoshi called them the "best couple at Kaburaya Junior High" he was being totally sarcastic. They both responded with complete denial: Oreki: "Yeah, right!" and Mayaka: "Me? With this gloomy looser? I'd rather deal with a slug!" Then she proceeds to chide him by saying "I can't believe you'd say something that mean even though you know how I feel." Eventually leading up to the actual explanation of the exchange:

But, the fact that she is not also in love with the MC makes the story much more fun for me. She is after the other guy, who knows it and teases her mercilessly. One wonders why he doesn't just date her, since she is cute and he obviously doesn't hate her... Perhaps it is a love triangle and the real reason Mayaka hates Oreki has to do with the person Satoshi is really in love with? LOL!

Anyway, I love this new arc, though I would l like them to get to the mystery, the cute level of the story is good enough to make up for the pacing! I also like the way the romantic story line is being handled. Oreki looking at the pictures of Eru was sooooo cute!

I was actually a little disappointed that he didn't admit to looking at them. Felt a little out of character, but maybe that was intended to show a future weakness
