It's kind of like Windows Media Center, Apple TV, or Boxee. Give or take some features.

Works as advertised - Great!

Technical details isn't advertisement, that's why engineers need salesmen.

a better question is why would you advertise a plugin for crunchyroll which knowingly bypasses the drm in place to protect the content provided by the site, its a blatant violation to the terms of use and also endangers any existing and future ip's that may come to crunchyroll, i admit its convenient, and i love xbmc, ive used xbmc since back when project mayhem was the default skin and rocking a modded xbox was cool but it doesnt override the fact that the drm must be bypassed

Edit: im sorry if i seem a bit rude as that is not my intention, the plugin seems solid but its not a good solution regardless of your good intentions, like i said it hurts crunchyroll who need to comply with the distributors in order to continue offering their services

Because of this, and because of the advice of a friend of mine, I am now a premium member. Please, support this XBMC plugin!

EDIT: @lzymxn: This highlights how important is to have DRM-free legal streams. Linux users have NO OTHER CHOICE THAN THIS. If you send me, a guy with an AMD videocard, to the Crunchyroll website, to see these movies, I get no hardware acceleration, so 720p or 1080p video is a slideshow, and a premium membership is USELESS for me. I don't intend to bypass the imposed restrictions to download the video; I only intend to break the DRM for legitimate purposes (viewing video in Linux according to the rights I have as a suscriber) and not otherwise.

So, please, lift your mod report, and only report plugins that are knowingly used for copyright infringement. The fact that the DMCA turns every circunvention of a technological protection measure into an illegal thing, is an EVIL ARTIFACT, that isn't even supported in legislations outside US.

i'm a Linux user with multiple computers using AMD video cards (a firepro v4900 in my desktop and an a4-3400 APU in my HTPC) and i have no problem with 1080p streams aside from my not so great internet connection that isn't fast enough to stream them decently. if i let the video load for a while it plays smoothly until i hit the edge of what's loaded.

i agree with lzymxn. if the addon breaks the drm and potentially could cause less IP to be put up on crunchy roll then it isn't worth it.
most drm is a total waste of time and completely fails at it's job but it's still dumb to think that the idiotic companies who are forcing it on their actual customers, while the pirates mostly don't have to deal with it, are going to suddenly be ok with DRM free streams. nevermind the fact that no amount of drm on a stream from anywhere is going to keep some two bit idiot with screen recording software from recording whatever they want anyway.

also, XBMC is awesome.

XMBC is a viewing platform, not a media copying or distribution system.

This plugin does not circumvent any copy protection, it does not break DRM, it merely streams the videos you have access to. If you are a premium member it means you have access to higher resolution videos.

I also petition for CR to either support this plugin or officially release a version with subtitle capability.

Considering the fact this post has been around since April and reported to mods and nothing has been done, they must not be overly concerned. As for DRM, the people interested in pirating the content on CR probably aren't using XBMC to get it. Also holding back content because of broken DRM (DVD CSS, Blu-Ray AACS and bd+, RTMPE all cracked btw) would probably be unwise since that would only increase demand for fan subbed versions and would probably cripple the market since most of them (DRM schemes) are already cracked.
At this point they may as well just xor 66 (ASCII capital B), or 65 (ASCII capital A) if you like, every byte in the file/stream and call that DRM, probably be just as effective.

I assume it would be a US datacenter.

But nonetheless, I quite liked this addon, I also think It would be worthwhile for Crunchyroll to make an official XBMC addon since they have done a good job of covering almost every other platform.
