There were Japanese exchange students I hosted bring me a magazine and some manga from Japan. When I went to Japan, I bought a Gundam magazine for my boyfriend and some manga for myself.

Had a friend bring me back some manga from his trip which ended up being Full Metal Alchemist, so got a few volumes of that. Can't read it just yet, but should make for handy practicing once I get more of the writing system under my belt.
Also brought me back a bunch of capsule toy One Piece figures so that was a bonus. |

Yes, I buy Ultrajump from amazon.co.jp and they include the added goodies. Used back editions may not but new ones do.
I read Japanese fairly well; I use it at work which really helps and I even got to work in Tokyo three years ago which was awesome. I originally wanted to learn Japanese so I could read the true story of Yukito Kishiro's Gun Dream / Battle Angel series as Viz went overboard with the translation, changing more than was necessary. Just got the 17th edition of Last Order though Kodansha publishes it now. Too bad amazon doesn't carry Evening magazine and my salesman friend now goes to China mostly which is too bad as he would pick me up the occasional copy when he was in Japan. No goodies in Evening magazine however to get back on topic... Crazy thing is that even while in Japan it is better to buy them from amazon.co.jp than in bookstores as they usually sell out the first day of issue while amazon takes preorders. |

Yes, I've bought a few, but not for the promo item. I've bought them when I know a chapter in one of the many series I'm into is in it. Then again, I know just enough Japanese to generally figure out what's going on (illustrations help out a lot! - like that one commenter stated, pictures are universal :)). I once went on a binge and bought 15 magazines because the local Japanese store discounted them to between $2.50 - $4.00 each. Couldn't pass that by

I always buy a bunch at once, otherwise the shipping costs more than the books which is depressing...

Has anyone ordered manga magazines from Amazon Japan before? If you have, did they come with the promotional items or just the magazine itself? Would you ever consider buying a manga magazine (in Japanese) just for the promotional item? Yup! I get Dengeki G's Magazine and it comes with really cool stuff! It's expensive though, like, $20 bucks an issue expensive, at least by my American standards |

I'm too young to be getting too old for this.

I usually buy anime magazines with additional stuff that I want (like Nendroid Puchi figures, etc) from Kinokuniya here in LA. Is it cheaper to buy magazines from Amazon Japan? I just bought a bunch of Hatsune Miku Blu-Ray concert sets from Amazon Japan and I usually buy anime figures direct from Japan-based etailers these days or from Yahoo! Japan Auctions via the Shopping Mall Japan proxy service.
