Yeah, I've bought a few volumes of Shonen Ace and some manga I liked and previously read as scanlations.

It's too expensive to ship, I got a bunch in December when my friend brought me some from Japan. It's interesting to see how cheap they are and how different they are to the american counter parts. The books are much smaller but the magazine is perfect for studying Japanese since everything is larger.

I figure my current stash will last me until I get much better at Japanese at which point I'll get some more or be able to find a better source.

I can read Japanese, so yes It's sooo expensive for shipping, but I love the magazines. You can read a bunch of series instead of just one, But of course the downside is you miss huge chunks of the story if you skip an issue due to not having enough money... And it's hard to get old issues later. Since I came to Japan, I've been enjoying easy access to manga more than almost anything else here. Except the creampuffs at Lawson, those are even better than manga

Yes. I buy Weekly Shonen Jump issues that have One Piece related bonuses. Like the double issue 36-37 of this year that had the One Piece 15th anniversary booklet.

There's a kinokuniya bookstore near here, so I have a couple of subscriptions. Its like 8 bucks a month for a phone book sized volume with 25 or 30 different ones in it. Super cheap compared to American comics, more like it was when I was a kid. I am slowly learning Japanese, and they're part of my practice.

I get alot of weird little promo shit (figures, posters, etc.) that I don't care about, but I just keep it to give away someday.

Yeah, it is awful when there are holes in your collection. Seems used stuff is awkward to buy from here. Have to wait for subsequent printings which may never come.

I bought a few Japanese yaoi doushinji a few years back when I was stationed there...man, the covers just drew me in, but all I could do was look at the pictures! The place was full of women getting their yaoi fix!

And across the way, there was an ecchi store for the men...went there first by mistake, then it took me a few minutes to realize that hey, this place is full of guys!

I buy my manga magazines from Sanseido,I noticed that it's cheaper than buying online.I mostly follow Asuka(not Asuka Ciel) and some yaoi magazines. But mostly Asuka, you need to show id(have to be 18 and up) to buy yaoi/hentai/echii/smut magazines though.Asuka always has cool freebies like mini books, postcards and drama cd's.They have a lot of drama cd's and postcards.Shoujo magazines always have a lot of freebies with each magazines, but I don't buy it.I'm gonna go this month to get my copy of the next Asuka and some Japanese mangas. You guys should try Sanseido,it's inside Mitsuwa Marketplace. It has a stamp/point system too.
