Hello guys! edsamac here from the Crunchyroll newsletter team. :)
As a supplement to the series, I requested permission from the team to give an episode-by-episode review and guide for the series, which will take the form of weekly forum posts. Included in each topic will be a rundown of the episode, as well as some discussion on basic Japanese Mahjong concepts and some other fun stuff to supplement your viewing of the series. Hopefully, other people can contribute and discuss the episodes, as well as share some interesting tidbits with regard to playing Mahjong in general. :)
To start things off, it's important to know some basics in Japanese Mahjong. I don't intend to pour them all out here, but you can refer to these wiki links that provide more than enough of the basics for you to get through. Think of it as your "life jacket" when plunging in to this series. Unlike the previous season, Saki ~ Episode of Side A is somewhat faster in pace, and some concepts that were taught in the original are apparently assumed as early as the first episode of the show. You have been warned! :D

To make things simple, I will always supplement the first post with a short glossary of terms that I'll be using in each post, just so you don't have to keep referring to these aforementioned links in cases where things are fuzzy. I don't consider myself an extremely hardcore Mahjong player, so if I say something that sounds weird or totally against what you think, feel free to bring it up. I'd love to learn as well from responses in the threads, so here's to some stimulating discussions on Japanese Mahjong, in general. :)
That said, look forward to the weekly updates. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me, and I'll try to respond ASAP.
