I'm just more tactful and considerate about it. It makes reality an easier pill to swallow when you can break it to someone in a delicate manner. Could be, but it's a lot less fun. |

I like to troll every now and then, and tease...but most of the time, I prefer to have a good laugh with people, rather than ruining their day lol. Don't let it get to you. Some people are just antisocial assholes who would rather be hated. |

It's all so pointless... what difference does it make anyway? Just enjoy the company of others in real life or virtually.

Finding truth isn't that hard... it's just the wondering if the trudging through all the crap is worth it... lol |

Individuals are the biggest falsifiers of ego-centered truths. It requires education, enlightenment, and courage of your convictions to be open and truthful at the same time. Everyone else is open, but not truthful, because lacking information, lacking a good answer to any question -- makes them feel inadequate. They would rather lie, they would rather claim to know the truth, they would rather make up a story than live with that feeling of inadequacy. And when they know the correct answer but don't like it, they will twist it until they can deny it and move on. (As with evolutionary theory). Overall, this human emotional reaction to being questioned, is how we got religion. People with no telescopes and no microscopes just invented a bullshit campfire story of one kind or another. Happened in every single society on earth. I do agree with this. Just seems interesting how you seem to flame on religion at any chance you get, not there there's anything wrong with it, just noticed it. Frankly, I'm sick to death of the notion that deluded people deserve any amount of respect. They deserve to be laughed at as any adult would be for still believing in Santa. Opinions do not trump facts. Not even in religious people's lives. Otherwise they could leave for work in the morning through the front door, or a 3rd story window and it wouldn't land them in the hospital. Truth matters. Evidence matters. Knowledge matters. Opinions are nothing more than claims, and a claim without evidence is indistinguishable from a delusion. People who believe things without evidence end up hurting themselves and others. Either directly, or indirectly. It saddens me somewhat that you believe deluded people deserves to be laughed at. I'm a non-believer myself, but I would never think that people with religion deserves disrespect, unless they try to force their own belief upon me. I generally like discussing religion with others and have done so for a while, but I have the highest respect for the other person's beliefs, no matter how deluded they seem to be. I completely agree that opinions does not trump facts, that an opinion is nothing more than a claim, but I would still say people who do not believe in things still hurt themselves and others. I mean, just as much as religous people do, for one reason or the other. It saddens me that so many good people have yet to understand what they're defending. You have yet to fully, or correctly analyze the extent to which they have unbalanced our world. I will not inform you, only suggest you read the same ten thousands books I have. The men with only one book are evil. They preach evil. They do it thinking it to be good. They truly know not what they do. Their hands are soaked in blood. Their sin continues in the sons of preaching fathers. The sin of ignorance. The sin of arrogance. The sin of pretending to know the mind of the infinite unknowable and exactly what it wants. Wisdom... It can not be gained from just one book. To even suggest it is a form of insanity. There is no reason to expect to survive the meeting of 21st century technology and religious fundamentalism. None. We are all facing an enemy undeterred by mutually assured destruction. We face the wishful thinking of deluded men. In all fairness, reading ten thousands of books doesn't equal great wisdom... Did you ever consider that your hate towards people with beliefs is just as destructive as religous fundamentalism? One more time.... The words hate & intolerance as used in regards to people of religious faith entails: Genocide, the destruction of nations, and the torture of innocent men, women, and children. The words hate & intolerance as used in regards to atheists and free thinkers entails: Destroying bullshit arguments, and hurting no one. |

We have people pretending they not only know the name of, but also understand the intentions of something of infinite complexity and perfection. By definition a feat beyond our capacity. These claims have always been bold faced lies. The kind told by epileptic madmen and abusive charlatans. There are over two thousand active religions right now, all with opposing viewpoints. Why? Simple. The possible variations of the description of God are infinite, but only one can be accurate, but since the variations of God which are the correct God, but do not have the correct message, are also infinite -- that makes it even worse. We don't have lottery tickets with odds that bad. We have a doubly infinite chance of being wrong, and furthermore, no system of knowing if we were ever right. At best God must forever remain an unknowable, at worst, was never anything more than an idea. To jump from there to: "I know exactly what it wants!!!" is impossible. And to suggest that it's not impossible because God wanted us to know about his existence suggests only charlatanism. Why would God need spokesmen? If a being of omnipotent power lacks the power to speak for itself, then it is not omnipotent and should not be considered God. You go off on a tangent quite often, don't you? Your inability to follow a single train of thought has something to do with me? |

Atheism and free thinking has never been the one with all the power, so that argument is kinda moot. I am sure that if atheism does gain the power of being the main idea (which I think is likely) I don't have too much hope in the fact that it won't follow in the same footsteps as religions have. It comes down to the very simplistic "My ideals are better than yours" taken to extremes whether or not because of a belief in God, Gods, or Goddesses. |
