i for one am one of those "rule lawyers" and proud of it (im nicer about it than most too)

So in the first ten minutes a new member shouldn't post anything because they might break the rules? So much for a warm welcome. If people have so much time to police the forums perhaps they might think about why it is that they do this. Me I don't have time for that. I work forty hours a week, have a sick father who often needs help or someone to talk to, the lawn needs mowing at least once a week if not more and then I have to sit down and go over the bills for the month. When I come here I just want to have fun and relax. I also find it strange that someone will report you for phrasing a question wrong but there are a whole host of trolls here who call people names all day long and yet never get reported. I guess I'm too old for this sort of thing.

Honestly I don't think I've ever received a warm welcome from any forum. And if you think the trolls here are bad then do yourself a favor and stay off of boards like 4chan and adult swim. They'll eat you alive.

Amen, and have had the same experience here with everything I try to post. On a side note, I just reported you for taking my rant before I could post it.

There's a rule about that? I had no idea. I guess I'll have to do more checking next time. However instead of reporting me and making the moderators have to play babysitter again how about I just get off the soapbox so you can have it?

I'm going to jump sides for just a moment.

We have people policing for several reasons. One is to cut down on clutter from things such as repeat threads, another to help direct you to an area in which you are more likely to receive the knowledge you see, and keep things orderly. I know what it's like to work a 50 and 60 hour work week, keep track of bills and such, and it's often tiring, but one can take a minute or two to make sure of what they are posting.

Also, you should expect trolls on the internet, you just have to be smarter than they are dumb, which is always entirely possible. Also, there is a report button.

And no, you're not to old to post or anything such in a forum. You just have to remember you're more likely to run into a lower maturity level.

While I agree with you to a point my other message was about wanting to buy a CR shirt. I believe the title was "Can I buy a CR shirt?" this was reported because it was a "personal thread" however the moderator left it up after altering it to "Info on CR shirts" or some such. Once the "I" was gone it was OK to post. The only reason a moderator even got involved was because I was reported. Don't you think this is a little extreme? Nothing was changed but the title and once the title was changed it no longer broke the rules so it was OK. As for trolls my question is this. Why are things like personal threads reported but trolls can call people retarded, stupid etc. and no one says a word about it? Not that I care much I'm just saying aren't they breaking the rules too?

Probably because it's the trolls that are doing most of the reporting.

True, someone could have directed you on how to make your post better rather than point and click the lazy way out, but that might not have changed anything since it might have needed changed anyway. You didn't knowingly break a rule, so there is no cause for concern.

As for trolls, there will always be trolls to be dealt with. I would only be pressed to deal with them if they have nothing of real value to contribute and/or harass people continually. You can report that, too.

the first ten minutes should first of all be to read the sticky thread because of the rules. it's basically the same as "ignorance of the law is no excuse" thing.

i mean no disrespect but i choose ignore your personal issues on grounds of irrelevance to the topic. i will say however you seem to have time to post a topic which sounds more of a complaint and take the time to reply despite your "busy" schedule.

people on the internet normally have nothing better to do than nitpick at everything, discuss the most irrelevant of issues, enforce arbitrary rules and unspoken rules, ultimately doing nothing productive. it shouldn't be surprising or strange that one would devote such dedication to something that really doesn't matter.

if we don't enforce the "no personal thread" rule then we will have floods of it clogging up with personal threads. these forums have been stated for discussions

that aside there is a sticky thread devoted to introductions

You're right, in the end it doesn't matter.

Well I have no need to argue anymore. Especially with someone who seems to hate everyone and everything (I checked your profile) which is why this will be my last post on CR for a very long time. Keep your rules, keep your hate, keep your opinions. I'm 35 and I don't have time for this shit. Have a nice life and please get help for your sociopathic tendencies unless your profile is all a joke of course.
