My parents hate anime and they judge me so hard for enjoying it. I don't ever want to be like that and I can't wait to watch anime with my kids

My niece and nephew consider me a second mom because I've been co-raising them since they were just babies. I think of them as my kids. It will be so nice when they are old enough to move on from Sailor Moon and Pokemon so that my siblings and I can start opening the floodgates for them. Although, it is cute to see my niece all swoony over the Moonlight Knight!

And I don't see myself ever being too old to like anime or manga. That's like being too old to like ice cream.

How bout opening the floodgates to let them see the original version of Sailor Moon in japanese? There's a good place to start.

^ Just because we still have them on VHS (yup) dubbed and she can watch them in her room then. Anything after this will be subbed for sure.

My parents are not aware about animes. Well, except hentai - that is. They think anime is all about that stuff. I hate it.

In other words...start her out with the dub, and when she's old enough, move her into the true version with all the uncensored stuff.

So with that said, adults shouldn't play video games ether? They shouldn't watch cartoons like the simpsons or family guy? They shouldn't read graphic comic books ether? And wait...they can't eat cereal like fruit loops or ice cream?? Oh and they shouldn't wear sports jerseys or play sports ether right?

Wow, if the world was a lot like you, not even aliens would want to take it over.

That's pretty much the plan. I think she's just about ready for Inuyasha. She keeps eyeing it on Netflix but I told her she had to watch it subbed. Think she thinks he's cute, too. Ah, girls....

My mom likes anime, the first one she watched was "Kenichi: Histories Mightiest Disciple." Me and my brothers were watching it and asked what was it and started to like it.

I am a anime fan teenager and it would be nice if my parents were anime fans well my grandfather loves starblazers so i get along with him best on anime stuff but the parents can't be too crazy about because y'all do need to spend time with us and not complain about the anime unless we are under sixteen and watching another or something with nudity and absolutly no hentai! That is what i say its cool to like anime as long as you don't get into the mega otaku zone where you get annoying.... but if your a mid level where if you have an anime fan kid you can relate to that and so it is great to be an anime fan parent just no going too far out.

Most of the parent generation see anime as cartoon, and as for cartoon they think it's for kids...

Obvious they will never watch it...

If you are a parent, and you watch anime... THANK GOD!!!

This comes around every once in a while and always leaves me shaking my head. I don't think anyone really understands why it happened, but in the 60s and 70s, the belief that cartoons & comics were only for kids really took root here in the US. It's never been the case and certainly isn't true in most countries around the world. But, the believe still persists.

The Flinstones, for instance, was created for adults. In some ways, it is a parody of the popular TV show "The Honeymooners". This certainly isn't the only example.

Anyway, It's unfortunate that anime is often misunderstood. But, there are quite a few of us older folks that enjoy it.
