Children of anime parents are the best. My son has my original Pokemon movie tapes, Pikachus, including my still work talking Pikachu, and we also have Hamtaro on DVD which he's loved for years now. Never can start them too early!!

He recently was mesmerized by Gundam Wing and I let him watch an hour, it was awesome.

The most awesome recent accomplishment (and my personal favorite!!!) -- I let him watch Chi's Sweet Home on CR (in Japanese, of course) and can actually READ the subtitles!!!! <3<3<3<3<3 He is absolutely IN LOVE with Chi!!

He has a severe weakness for "Cute". He gets it from his mother, lol.

But seriously, kawaii, fall on the floor because the Cute just shattered your legs, cute?! I walk in and not only is he trying to imitate the Japanese speaking, he's singing the theme song!!! Honestly and truly, the ONLY time I have EVER had the urge to scream "KAWAII!!!"

I am anime mom (AniMom, if you will) and I approve this message.

My parents hate anime and they judge me so hard for enjoying it. I don't ever want to be like that and I can't wait to watch anime with my kids

That sucks My parents never got it either... they didnt really "insult" me for it, but there sure was a lot of eye-rolling from their camp to mine. Now I just dgaf... They know I'm an odd one and so be it, "normal" people are boring. I have my own tiny tribe of crazies now, so it.doesn't matter...

But I can ASSURE you, every time my mom drops my son off, she rolls her eyes a litle bit inside because her 30 year old daughter spends her kid-free time watching cartoons!! lol!!

That makes me feel SO much better!!!

We were at the produce stand yesterday and he was all "AWWWW baby bananas, they're so cute!" and proceeds to rub them on his cheek, because I mean, duh, that's what you do with everything that's cute!!! >.<

When you're 5 billion years old, I hope your children make a point to rub that in. >.<

I'm guessing they weren't fans of Sailor Moon, then?

It's funny how you're the adult here and your comment contains so many flaws. Anime can be watched by anyone, but my opinion is that adults who are otakus are just....Let me explain it in a better way: If you live in the u.s the first amendment says: 'Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness' = THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS. You can be happy in any way that you can, but if you're an adult you should have common sense to know that at an adult age you need to get over things. This is a different thing because I use to love the power rangers as a kid, and I always will, but there is an age, and step for everything. 'Oh and they shouldn't wear sports jerseys or play sports ether right?' dafuq did that come from? I thought we were talking about anime? 'Wow, if the world was a lot like you, not even aliens would want to take it over.' aliens don't exist. and since you're saying that, I hope you live a happy life with your 2-d girlfriends :]

There's a difference between liking anime and being a total shut-in otaku weirdo. Yes, as an adult(or teen...or kid) it's usually best to have balance in your life. You have responsibilities and you need to tend to them. That still leaves plenty of room to enjoy anime. The thread wasn't "Are there any parents who are completely obsessed with anime?", it was just asking if there are any who *like* it. Watching a few hours of anime a week isn't any worse than watching a few hours of anything else.

Whatever. I enjoyed it back in the 90s in my teen years, and carried my love for anime into adulthood. The only difference between then and now, is that I can afford to buy whenever I want.

Well, anime is a lot cheaper today, then it was in the 90s. Anime on VHS was usually three episodes of a series for around $29.99. Sometimes you could find sales, but the cheapest would be about $20 for just three episodes of a series.

LOL!! That made me and my husband laugh so hard, thanks for that!!!

Maybe they're waiting for you to be like "Hey lets have an anime night!!!!" or perhaps they still secretly watch and are waiting to see if you're an ani-noob or not--you know we parents are very tricky! ;)

Well at least they seem to be okay with it.

I guess parents really always are a mystery, I still can't figure out how my mom can watch crap like Real Housewives and Jerseylicious or how she's Level 99 on Cityville but still has no idea how to operate the computer!!

My daughter is the reason I got into anime/manga. I used to look down on it and the people who watched it but she begged me to buy her some manga. I read it first to make sure it was appropriate and fell in love, not only with anime/manga but Japanese culture. There are so many anime's and manga's that aren't aimed at children or teenagers but adults and no, I don't mean hentai. Its also really nice to share a common interest with my daughter. We have a movie night were we just enjoy a couple episodes of anime together. This way I also know what she is into which makes us closer. My other daughter isn't really into anime, she is younger and says that "its too old for her and she prefers Johny Test".

@FueledbyRamen It's obvious that you are very young and immature. I hope for your sake you learn not to judge others so harshly, hardly everyone fits into the same mold. I love anime/manga yet I'm in a loving relationship, with 2 beautiful daughters and our household is a very happy environment.

/me raises hand. I think a lot of anime is better than the crap seen on cable.

That said, I limit what is watched but I do that with regular movies/shows as well.
