I'm a parent of 7... the only real anime fandom challenge with kids is screening out the elements that really aren't age appropriate. Luckily as both my wife & I are fans, too... we can cut their watchlist down easily as we've been watching since the late 80s.

My father seems to like it and my mother doesn't like how I collect some anime merchandise.

I always tell her, at least its better than doing illegal drugs.

It's funny how you're the adult here and your comment contains so many flaws. Anime can be watched by anyone, but my opinion is that adults who are otakus are just....Let me explain it in a better way: If you live in the u.s the first amendment says: 'Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness' = THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS. You can be happy in any way that you can, but if you're an adult you should have common sense to know that at an adult age you need to get over things. This is a different thing because I use to love the power rangers as a kid, and I always will, but there is an age, and step for everything. 'Oh and they shouldn't wear sports jerseys or play sports ether right?' dafuq did that come from? I thought we were talking about anime? 'Wow, if the world was a lot like you, not even aliens would want to take it over.' aliens don't exist. and since you're saying that, I hope you live a happy life with your 2-d girlfriends :]

Wow! You know everything! Haha. Spoken like a true teenager.

I say not at all as long as you have balance then enjoy your past times, I raise my son, support my husband, go to work pay my bills and I even run Brownies, but I do like to sit down and enjoy some anime and thats my right as an adult.

I have loads of common sense, I have supported myself since the age of 19 ... im curious to know your age.

Every time I show up my youngest Godson wants me to watch Power Rangers with him, so I got him started on Gokaiger; he has no idea what is going on, but he absolutely loves it when they transform into other Super Sentai and loves Gokai Green's physical comedy.

A lot of times I am asked by their parents if something is okay for them to watch, half the time I have no idea what it is they are going on about (sorry never watched BeyBlade), but that's what the internet is for. I don't mind at all though, it keeps me involved with their lives.

But I can ASSURE you, every time my mom drops my son off, she rolls her eyes a litle bit inside because her 30 year old daughter spends her kid-free time watching cartoons!! lol!!

Thats funny!! I think we all go through that!!

There's a difference between liking anime and being a total shut-in otaku weirdo. Yes, as an adult(or teen...or kid) it's usually best to have balance in your life. You have responsibilities and you need to tend to them. That still leaves plenty of room to enjoy anime. The thread wasn't "Are there any parents who are completely obsessed with anime?", it was just asking if there are any who *like* it. Watching a few hours of anime a week isn't any worse than watching a few hours of anything else.

Wow so much spit and fire there...

I guess to many we must be odd since most of us don't spend our TV time watching; Oprah, Jersey Shore, Survivor, The Bachelor ...ect...ect... And with the term Otaku being thrown around so freely by the media many think that if you like Anime you must be a pervy otaku nerd... i think it sad. Yeah i watch anime and I'm a parent but i don't buy dolls or bed pillows and have never dressed in a costume...yet. Anime compared to other forms of media can tell some of the best stories, with many being financially impossible to replicate in Hollywood, outsiders just don't realize it... As for the costume thing if you dress for Halloween or any of the other holidays its fine but heaven for bid you dress up for a convention lol!

Y'all that want to know FbR's age are just silly!!

Everyone knows trolls age in troll years!! .33 Troll Years = 1 Human Year.

By my calculation, our little troll is about 5 years old.

P.S. Move out to under your own bridge now while you still know everything.

i have 3 boys and i love anime and so do they. So does my wife we watch it togeather when its ok for the boys
they are only 1 2 & 3 years old so we pick and choose wich eps they watch they love to sing and dance to the opening and end songs

i my self am keeping track of about 7 new animes atm and my wife watches some of the same and some others that are more to her taste
and that is why anime is one of the best fourms of story telling. There is no Set order as in Cartoons made by Disney & WB

for instance
one of my fave animes from when i was young is trigun
and just recently rewatched the whole thing and enjoyed it

compared to the same age WB stuff i have on dvd i can hardly watch it hase no depth and repeats it self so many times. Same gage done 1000 Ways' no matter how the whilye goes about it you allready know hes gone get it. its old and frankly as an adult lost its charm a long time ago

the same can be said for half the kids TV shows

but anime has a depth that those shows do not have' wich means as an adult i can sit and watch anime and enjoy it. Some times even more so that when i was a kid

Take the anime Erin
Breath taking story very dynamic not made for Kids

Deathnote' Bubblegum CT ' Deadman wonderland'

Not realy aimd at kids
there are many more animes that realy are aimed at mid to late teens and adults

Adults shouldn't like anime to begin with.

Some anime is directed at adults rather than children so saying that is like saying adults shouldn't watch TV at all because some of the shows are directed at children.

*raises hand*

Signs you might be an electronic parent (or will be) :

○ You own more video games and systems than your kid
○ You own more animated works than your kid.
○ You are constantly shuffling a myriad of chargers around the house trying to find places where everything can charge at once.
○ You have had to program every electronic device /your/ parents have bought since you were 5 years old, starting with making the clock stop blinking 12:00 on the VCR.
○ If you receive, on average, at least 3 calls per week from /your/ parents asking how to open Dad's email, how to turn on Dad's cell phone, and how to un-friend someone on facebook.

Aww hell when I'm old like my parents, it'll be like "Son, can you please come fix my Replicator?? I wanted some weed but the damned thing just keeps shooting out dandelions!!"
