I uh...I just don't get it, to be honest. I don't really know what they are anyway

I've heard of "Hatsune Miku" but I don't really know what the deal is. I assume she's a character from an anime though

she is not a character from an anime, she is a virtual pop star :)

Wiki: Vocaloid, Vocaloid2 and Vocaloid3 are voice synthesizing applications, they have been commerically sold since 2004 and began from one of the simplest ideas of synthesizing the human vocals for singing. From the start this was never a easy task for the programmers behind the software, but from that beginning to what we have now Vocaloid has grown into a synthesizing phenomena who has spawned new musicians, albums , figurines and even concerts .

anyways I love them!

Ok I looked up Hatsune Miku on Youtube based on what you told me Droplet.

And I...wow... well, I will say the technology is impressive, though why anyone would go to a live concert where there really is no live performance is beyond me. I honestly see it as a novelty. How long lived will said novelty be? That I can't say

I like them because amazing composers like supercell and DECO*27 use them.
And then I love them because my favorite utaites sing their songs. WOEFOWEH SHOUNENT. <3
Yeah. So cheers for the Kagamines and Gumi. /o/

Hate Miku though. She's overrated. Even though her songs are good, her voice is annoying. Soft append is better.

they're cute but the music doesn't appeal to me very much. a girl i used to be friends with is a fan and she tried to get me into them by showing me a vocaloid cover of a song by one of my favorite bands, pink floyd, and it really wasn't my cup of tea haha

your basically going to a concert to see a program. concerts are for real music. bands on stage playing real music.

It is real music. There is a band playing on stage. The only thing that isn't real is the hologram of the character singing. >_>
And even then their voices are recorded by humans and put through a synthesis engine. >_>

but thats not music come on. thats like people saying dubstep is music. and anyone can make any crap on it. my little cousin thinks he can make music just by using machine and making it go crazy. its not real music, go play an instrument take years of practice, write music from the soul. not a song made in 10 min on a computer.

You have no idea how much effort it takes to get vocaloids to sound good, do you?
I could also say 'you have no idea how much effort is takes to make Britney spears sound good'. It's prerecorded, I might has well watch some idol lip sync in their performance.

I really like Hatsune Miku stuff. Tell Your World (album) by Livetune I think is the best Miku album there is, even considering Supercell. Elegumi Tokyo does some good Miku stuff, too. I subscribe to Karent(dot)jp, which has pretty much everything that uses Miku, even if it's just a feature. I buy all the songs lol. I think I browse Mikubook as much as I do AnimeNewsNetwork and CR combined.

I love them especially SeeU (yeah I might get a little hate on this since not so many people don't like her because she's Korean which is pretty racist much right or not?), Miku, and Luka

I don't particularly like SeeU, but I don't hate her because she's Korean at all.

Well, people can't sing. That's one of the reasons Vocaloid exists, and as long as there are people that can't sing, Vocaloid will last.

I actually own Lily V3 and I must say it is really hard to use it. It is certainly an interesting experience to say the least
