Politics are boring and the only reason I voted for Obama was because he was black.

Sometimes I wonder if politicians are even from this planet... I think they might live in some strange LSD trip version of reality.

Politics are all fine and dandy, until someone loses their rights.

@PumeHana92: good 1, that sums it up well. This thread exists over in Extended Discussions but your posters are more direct, less wordy. My generation, sad to say, is screwing your generation as far as theoretical debt accumulation pay off or pay down is concerned. I used to see bumper stickers on higher end vehicles driven by folks as aged as I currently am that proclaimed "I'm spending my baby's or grand baby's inheritance" and I always felt it to be ironic albeit trite. Today, truth in advertising (now, there's an oxymoron) on any political ad would suggest "I'm spending my grand baby's money now and I'm never going to pay it back."

I've listened to all sorts of rhetoric and conjecture over time. Some pundits hit near the mark; others are full of bull manure. In the US the Boomers have peaked on spending for or on themselves and are presently having to prepare for their aging years. Some economists recognize this trend and suggest this is the lynch pin behind the downturn in taxation revenues on goods and services while others point toward different indicators of economic sensitivities responsible for our collective fiscal delinquency.

I don't know what the future portends. During my previous youthful cynical years the mantra "Figures lie, liars figure" seemed an appropriate adage about the state of US politics, certain corporate and union decisions. It has always been a tumultuous process throughout our history as a country. We're are at crossroads again and the 2012 election outcome will predict, for better or worse, which course of action we choose. I'm hoping it will be liberty over tyranny as we're in a soft tyranny state of existence now.

I think it's like this. I disagree with you. You disagree with me but at the end of the day it doesn't matter because the Smoking Man will tell us all how to live our lives anyway. For those of you too young to remember The X-Files the Smoking Man was the guy behind everything from alien abductions to the JFK assassination. He liked to laugh at the people who thought they had a say in their government.

Eh, I'm tired of sharing my political opinions, especially on the internet. There's apparently no such thing as sharing your opinion and not getting in some argument. So, I pay plenty of attention to politics, as I watch CNN and Fox News constantly as well as TDS and Colbert Report and MSNBC occasionally, but it's honestly better for my health if I generally not say what I think on the subject, at the very least not on the internet.

Liberals hate you if you are a hard worker.
Conservatives hate you if you aren't straight, white, christian and have sex once a year in missionary position with the sole purpose of making children.
You can't win in this country

As a guy who has made more enemies than friends on the internet based on my political views, I understand where you are coming from. But you see, it depends on the kind of people you talk to online. I'm not afraid to express my views, nor am I afraid to be very blunt about them.

You're gonna get into an argument no matter what, it just depends on the type of people. I like how some of them like to sneak in their emotions to justify themselves being right, and if you're sharp, you can tell a mile away that they're BSing you into agreeing with them. Then others try to shut you up/down or use intimidation. That no longer becomes a debate, it becomes more like a fight or something hostile.

It's even worse in person...much worse. So trust me I know what it's like, and I'm gonna continue to have the views I have. At the end of the day, I'm a free thinking human being who is American and there's only two things they can do about it:

Deal with it, and like it.
