What's a Better Name for "Bodacious Space Pirates" |
Princess Crunchyroll
|
Ahoy, mateys ~ ! This is Victoria the space pirate! Arrrrrrr!
WELL, it seems there’s a bit of controversy over on the INTERTRONZ about the English renaming of one of the very best shows currently featured here on Crunchyroll, Bodacious Space Pirates! Based on some of the feedback we’ve gotten from our users, some of you are none too pleased with the use of the word “Bodacious” in the title. The argument goes that this show is too intelligent, too serious, and just too good to saddle it with the word “Bodacious”. http://www.crunchyroll.com/bodacious-space-pirates Perhaps they do have a point…maybe some unlucky folk have passed on this show simply because of the title. And what a shame that would be ~ ! SO we’ve decided to run a poll where YOU GUYS get to have some say on what the series should be called. Now, due to a lot of complicated reasons, we can't change the name, but YOU NEVER KNOW and your feedback would really be appreciated! So please vote for a new name here, or come up with your own in thread below! THANKS and please keep watching BODACIOUS SPACE PIRATES NO MATTER WHAT IT’S CALLED!!! http://www.crunchyroll.com/bodacious-space-pirates |

Thank god it's being renamed. My friend gives me so much gruff for watching something with the name "Bodacious" in it

Honestly, it should have stayed Moretsu Pirates.

My queen, Sailor Bee calls, and I answer... :3
In my opinion the Japanese title is always superior to anything US companies can pull out of their rears. |

"Bodacious" is fine. The word can be used in two ways:
(1) Bold in an admirable way. (2) Having an attractive body, esp. in relation to certain female features. I think those who have spent enough time watching the series will agree that the first definition is much more relevant and befitting. |

I'd go with the original name, bodacious isn't a word I've really heard since TMNT in the 80's/90's

Bodacious would be perfect if it didn't come with that baggage ... its now quite beyond argument: they are quite bodacious.
It may be that the likes of Pauly Shore have spoiled what used to be a perfectly fine slang word, but I can't come up with one that fits the spirit of the show any better. OTOH, if its been sunk, I'd go with the def'n of Bodacious, above, and have it as "Bold Space Pirates" |

Still older than the President and younger than The Ancient One

Finally!! Bodacious should've never been picked in the first place >.>

The original Japanese name should be used.
Anyone passing on the series because of the name can't be to deep however. It's a good story. I usually rate the episodes maximum starts. |
