When I hear "bodacious" I think of stuff like Bill & Ted and Ninja Turtles. I think the name is pretty awesome. Does it really not fit the series? I mean, it's about teenagers in miniskirts piloting a space ship with a pretty light hearted art style. Is it really some super serious, "this show makes me reevaluate my outlook on life and the world around me" series?

I prefer the original title.

While there's nothing wrong with the word "bodacious", the problem is that a lot of people really don't know what it means. And, it's picked up some connotations that don't help. Really, if you need an English title, then go with "Audacious Space Pirates". Adventurous just doesn't carry the same punch. Dauntless is a good word too.

If it's going to be 'renamed', then I think it should return to the original Japanese Name.

Honestly, Bodacious Space Pirates paints a picture of an entirely different show than what the show actually is -- especially when you try to follow up by explaining it's about a high school girl that becomes a pirate. Minds will wander.

To hell with the haters i love that its called Bodacious Space Pirates. That's the main reason i started watching this show. I would always scroll through the anime and when i read that i would say it in a Californian surfer accent as a joke and it started interesting me so i watched it. I think the name should stay, if people are hurting over a name then let them hurt the name is just too awesome.

Also why isn't there an option in the vote to keep the name as it is?

I voted Moretsu Pirates.

I admit, I almost skipped it because of the name, and that's because I didn't know the actual definition of the word bodacious, which now does sound fitting. However, the image it brought up was definitely of a sleazier nature. I also always liked how Moretsu rhymed with Pirates.

I can think of quite a few series that should stick with the original japanese name. One that comes to mind is "Asobi Ni Iku Yo" which they decided to change to "Cat Planet Cuties" (Why Funi WHY?!?!?!)

I voted for the original Japanese name as well. But really, anything would be better than the current title. Bodacious Space Pirates sounds so completely absurd that I hesitate to even recommend the anime to other anime loving friends. The one time I did mention it to a friend of mine, he looked at me like I just recommended him Barbie Horse Adventures. Yeah, I won't be doing that again....

Four pages in and noone have stoped to think abour what moretsu (モーレ) actually means?
From what I've looked up, it seems to mean roughly "hard-working with a gung-ho attitude".

As for bodacious, I also think its sad that the word has gotten ruined by pop-culture. Oh well, at least it hasn't turned into something riduculously offensive, as the synonyms for happy and sigarettes. Like demonstrated in this humorous example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtaPaQwSQPA

Regardless, I do preffer the original japanese version of the name.

I'll be honest, I think crunchyroll should keep the original names of the anime. it's kind of hard to search them up on the website when the name of the series is tagged only under the English name. I.E. I tried looking up "Nichijou" but no hits. so I tried alternative English names that translate from the show's name "everyday life" "regular life" "Normal life" then I literally had to look up all the series by season because I was too lazy to look up synonyms for "normal" on dictionary.com.
