This is kinda NSFW-y, well I'm not sure so I'll use spoiler tags just to be safe.

What do you guys think of this?
Sick? Tacky? Incest?

Spill it.

I guess I'm the only one not acting jejune over this, but I didn't know that her son there was actually three. He looks much bigger than your average 3 year old or it must be the photo. Anyway, I don't see how something as breast-feeding is deemed controversial when it's apart of life.

But, to each their own.

I sub to TIMES and haven't checked to see if I've gotten this one yet (although I'm sure I have/will soon). I think that breast feeding is just a normal part of life, but seriously, TM definitely is trying to sell magazines with this photo.

Many countries raise their offspring using time honored techniques that seem alien of off-mark to the rest of us that theoretically live in advanced societies. Breast-feeding falls into that category.

Leave it to Time Magazine to shock, dismay, and annoy. I suppose this cover is a good way to stir up discussion. My take on it is the magazine has chosen a sensationalist path versus a objective approach. The latter doesn't sell copy; the former does. Matter of taste depends on the mores and values of the Society that nutures or destroys it.

My initial reaction is Time violated this person's right to privacy. But since I don't know the facts or backstory surrounding this individual per se (publicity seeker??, avant-garde vs norm mores getting out the message) I won't pass judgement positive or negative.

hmm everyone has a different parenting style so should we turely care we only should worry when its painful overkill such as getting whiped if the child gets his/her clothes dirty or the child is not being fed at all or is getting stabbed because the parent thinks there is a demon in the child......

the kid's kinda big but he's 3, so breast milk does the body good? I got no problem with the picture cause boobs are boobs.

also I'm reminded of a skit done on Mad TV with breast feeding taken to the extreme.

It doesn't bother me, but I think they must have known it would cause controversy.

If you do this you are hurting your child's chances of having normal interactions with the opposite sex. I have a nephew who went thru the same experience an he is having a hard time in his teenage years. You should never put your emotional problems on your kids.

That's the nature of news reporting and media, we allow for a certain degree of creative expression especially when it is reflective of a current topic of interest, despite the known hype it will cause from all the people out there who are just too squeamish and will scream the loudest when they think their personal ethics must take center stage.

There is a horrendously bratty boy at my church who is about 3 years old who also still breast feeds. Biggest brat I've ever seen. He's got severe avoidant-attachment with his mother and it breaks my heart to see how pathetic the situation is.... I hope these kids turn out... "normal"
