When I was in the army there was a guy on my team who could press out a few drops from his nipples, it was gross and hillarious. xD

Is anyone actually offended? I think this is another case of fabricated outrage at best. Seems like the media talked about a "controversy" before anyone even knew of the story. It reminds me of troll posts on meme sites, where there are more comments about how there will be flaming than actual flaming comments.

As for the story itself, I don't see how anyone could possibly care. Breastfeeding is a very good thing. And I'm no history buff so I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure any qualms about breastfeeding "older" toddlers is a relatively modern and Western phenomenon. And if they claim they're offended by the mere nudity involved, they should just shut up in my opinion. There is nothing outrageously offensive about mild nudity, especially not one little breast, much less when we're talking about a mother breastfeeding.

Granted, there is something odd about breastfeeding someone who is several years old...

Let's all just stop pretending we're offended by things that have nothing to do with us, especially when they're quite tame. "Oh, there was a split-second nip-slip on public television! Me and my children are scarred for life!" That's what it reminds me.

Lol, go find out.

I looked it up and when a woman decides to stop breastfeeding is typically up to the woman and child. True, it seems that MOST stop at about 1 year. But just because everyone else does or doesn't do something doesn't mean you should or shouldn't. If you consider this sexual, all I'm suggesting is that you think twice about how you define sexuality if you haven't already: Is it sexual because it involves the human body? Is a situation still sexual if neither persons see it that way? And should the majority's opinion really count for all in this scenario?

I guess to each their own. It's really up to the Mom and child when to stop. But, using it as a cover isn't shocking to me, it's a part of life. If anything it just feels tacky. It has earned a golf clap from my corner.

In all honesty, if I ever breast feed my kids they WILL be cut off once their teeth start coming in. And at 3 years of age, they have a mouth full. I'm not really a big fan of this so called 'Attachment Parenting'. To me it's unnatural. A kid needs to learn to take care of themselves after a while because I can't be there 24/7. It's kind of similar to how I feel about corporal punishment for a child. My kids will get a spanking if they act like little shit heads. I.E. In a grocery line, your kids are messing with the candy and you tell them to stop. They're too enthralled with the treats that they don't pay any attention to you even after you've told them to stop 3-5 times. Pop them on the behind and suddenly their attention is all on what you say and they learn that if they do it again they will get popped again. No child will want to feel that 5 second of small pain so they learn what not to do. Just as children by the age of 2 need to be able to handle you not being there for a few hours and socialize with other kids and adults. Attachment Parenting can lead to kids not wanting to branch out and stick to their mother's side, which the majority of us will not want.

Sigh... bloody idiots. whine and complain about how the homosexuals are ruining life, campaign for womens rights. Sell bikinis/ skimpy clothes that show off the female body, then turn around and say that breastfeeding in public is sick and disgusting. And here I thought the US was progressing. Guess I fell for the illusion, things will never change.

I think the problem with breast feeding toddlers is that by then the foundation of their long-term memory has been established, so there is a chance they will remember being breast fed later on in life.

I don't know about anyone else, but frankly I'm thankful that I don't have to remember sucking on my mother's nipple every time I look at her...
That would just be awkward.

I breastfed my daughter until she was three, not because I chose to stop it, but because she did. We used attachment parenting approaches in many areas, including baby-wearing and cosleeping.

She is now almost six. We are very close, and she listens to me. She is gregarious, has a great sense of humor, is confident, sharp, and nurturing. She possesses a level of empathy that is highly developed for her age. She does very well in school and in social situations in general.

There is nothing wrong with continuing to nurse a child at age three or four.

A true Aussie won't get angry unless you show him a kangaroo getting raped. That's my man.
