lol, I've definitely noticed that I now approach a picture by looking at it from R to L instead of L to R. I've noticed that I often try to write R to L too, but I don't know if it's because of the manga.

Other things otaku might do:

You participate in birthday events or celebrations for anime/manga characters

You have a facebook or twitter account devoted to anime-related topics, which may be named after an anime character (I have no less than THREE "otaku" twitter accounts)

You notice that the amount you spend on merchandise is gradually increasing every month

You feel you may need to move to a new place (or at least out of your parents' home) since you're running out of room to store all your merch and cosplays

You know more about seiyuus and Asian music groups and celebrities, than you do about celebrities from your own country

i agree with this overtime of being into anime/manga it clicks and its part of your day to day thing.
i believe i became an otaku the first week i started watching anime it was all i did for a while.

2)) when you go to a convention and can tell who people are dressed as

3))when you start to refer to your room as a "The Cave"

Wow! Got to admit that is pretty Otakuey man! I wanted to get a FF Full collection of all games limited edition and not sure if it had extras included like the films or something like that but it was really expensive in Japan and was like £200 to £500 pounds or dollars not sure what it was shown in now but it looked amazing!

It's actually pretty normal for me. Being a huge jpop fan/collector i've had to limit myself to one concert bluray a year atm due to the stupid prices.
