I fixed my car. In fact I prefer not taking my car to a mechanic at all, and every repair has been done myself: Except for tire rotation which is simple, just time consuming without a pneumatic lift.

I just thought i should mention it if it wasn't too obvious.

Tell us any problem that was impossible or really difficult to mend. HDMI connector was fully operational after my attentive and arduous repairs.

Ahh so what have you salvaged that was deemed impossible or a waist of time?

In my opinion, you got lucky there... I don't know how much repairing you did with the cable head.
But just a warning, if you something happen when you plug it in the port and the entire head could of been stuck in the port. Then you would of have to pay more than getting a new cable.

Risk Assessment, if it really worth it to take that chance?

I helped with my ps2 when it was struggling to play games. I cleaned out the fan which was clogged with dust. x_x

Lol that happened. I used a paper clip. And inserted it in two opposite holes and then tugged it out. This is only temporary until I buy another. Or until It really gets irreparable.

Cheap makeshift all the way.

All it took was the dedication and commitment of one man. His will not to give up on what he believed was important. A lesson can be learned here when they say it's impossible or laugh at you and say your wasting your time. You remain stead fast and patient with your work. It will pay off.

Haha, it would have been easier for you to just get a new connector from digikey and solder the wires. It's not that hard, really. That said, I'm a computer engineer, so my views on what's hard or not are probably all skewed.

I like to get broken PC's for pennies and fix them, then sell them on craigslist but that's about as much fixing of broken stuff I do.

I replaced the engine in my old Chevy a few years ago.

I epoxied the SATA cable onto one of my old hard-drives, it worked for several years after that... Hitachi HDDs are a little delicate that way.

I can be kind of handy when I've got time and a place to do it.

I was gonna do my brakes on my little Ford but when I got the drums off I just had to adjust them a bit.
