He says "sick" like he thinks it's cool. Not that he's a hater.

It could be good, could be great, but we all know it could fall flat on its face

It took me a moment to realise he wasnt trolling. I swear its a sign Im getting old when I forget kids are using "sick" like I used "dope" and "cool" when I was a kid. lol
And I agree... my favourite black person was the tall blond chick from Majikoi. I thought she was hot, even though she was a bit-character used for comedic purposes. |

Your wording of the question is very confusing here. At first I read it and it was very misleading. I thought you were "sick" of seeing black people in anime and such, but I re-read it (couple of times) and it turns out it's not like what it is. And by looking at your picture, I'm sure you like black people =P.
I do enjoy seeing a variety of races in anime, and not stick to the typical Japanese and White characters. And I can think of one that is definitely black is Afro Samurai. Uub in Dragonball Z could also be black =P Black people are awesome, well only the nice ones are. |

I was so ready to write a paragraph full of insults, profanity, flaming etc. etc. when someone made it clear that he didn't mean harm. This thread would be locked instantly and I'd be spending my time in banland for the next 7 days. On-topic: That guy from Durarara!! I think he was Russian but whatever, he was black. I don't know. Not too many black characters stood out for me. |

In the anime series I've seen, there are occasionally black characters, but not very many at all. I'm assuming this reflects the source and target culture (i.e. Japan) where there just aren't that many black people around. In contrast, those that take place in America (or an America-like setting) have more (e.g. Tiger and Bunny, Space Brothers). There's Lloyd the insurance guy in Bodacious (Moretsu) Pirates, Jennifer in Space Brothers, and the ship's doctor (I think?) in Full Metal Panic. There are some darker-skinned characters I've seen too, but I have to say I've never thought of them as definitely black (e.g. Anthy Himemiya in Revolutionary Girl Utena-- is she in fact black? Or Villetta Nu in Code Geass).
Oh, and there's Harris, one of the 'Three Stooges" or San Baka Trio in Squid Girl. |

You can't expect Japan to depict black people on the same level as we do in America when there are very few of them in that country. It has nothing to do with being racist, it's just most Japanese people aren't really exposed to them. Certainly not on the same level as America, or even The United Kingdom |
