Personally I think it's awesome! Although some ppl don't like it & would rather stick to the anime, & that's totally understandable. Some of my favorites are:

AI ORE!

Ouran High School Host Club

Arakawa Under The Bridge

Ranma 1/2

Another

So which ones do you guys like? Or do you not like live-action at all?

I hate it. It's never done right, the actors are all wrong, and it just sounds cheesy.

Then again, the only live action I've seen is Chibimaruko.

Gantz. I'm indifferent. The recent live-action adaptations of Marvel and DC Universe comics are good, if they count. Probably not.

No, they don't.

Still, they are good adaptations regardless.

One of the reasons, I think, that live-action anime adaptations tend to suck is because (note: I'm not in any way an expert in Japanese cinema) Japan doesn't tend to put actual money into their live-action productions. Their "Hollywood" is in their myriad of animated productions. The live-action side of things rarely seems to get the same treatment. While a good many of Japanese directors, and other crew involved, seem to be able to create very visionary works and well-made products, the average look and feel and, a lot of times, quality (production-wise, not in acting or storytelling) is the equivalent of our Sci-Fi/SfyFy Original movies. Sometimes, not even. Gantz was kind of an exception, from what I saw, to the modern norm of Japanese "zero-production quality" films, but it still was not even close to what Hollywood pumps out. What they need are more things like our (good) comic book adaptations and not movies made off 50% minimum wadge and a few favors.

Actually, I think it more has to do with them not seeming to care about actually looking like the characters. I mean, it's not that hard to change someone's hair style, hair color/colour, or eye color/colour. Yet they still don't even seem to give a shit. That and the costumes also look like they were bought online rather than actually made for the shows. Like Ouran, for instance. The actors kind of resemble their animated counterparts, except that their hair looks nothing like theirs (it's not that hard to get a blonde wig!) and the uniforms look like good cosplay and not like uniforms. Though, I gotta say, that picture of Ranma 1/2 almost scared the crap out of me at first glance. I thought I was looking at a duplicate for a split-second.

I think the reason why they don't make them look exactly like the character is to go for more of a realistic look, otherwise it just looks like a really badly done cosplay. Thats how I feel about it, anyway.

If I've seen the anime, I don't see a point to watching the live action version.

I didn't know Ai Ore was an anime yet.

Well, as for the topic, I rarely watch Live-Action although if I hear or read a good review on it, then maybe just maybe I'll give it a "shot". Most times though, the chances are pretty slim for me. That DBZ live-action movie was the one that convinced me not to watch live-action films adapted from anime/manga.

I wonder how they the upcoming Bleach movie will do. I'm getting headaches thinking about it now L

Sometimes, it is hard to watch a live action because I'm expecting it to be as amazing as the anime and plus I already know what's going to happen. But my favorite is definitely Hana Yori Dango (The Japanese version). It really was x1000 better than the anime, kept the storyline (with a few appropriate changes) and plus the casting was perfect.

Basically.

Nodame Cantabile was the only live action that I watched.
And that was before I even knew there was an anime for it.

IMO live actions ruin the manga / anime.
I saw Liar Game, Bloody Monday, Hana Kimi and they were all terrible.
