I remember a group doing a parody sub of Honey and Clover episode 1. I nearly died laughing.

What the op calls fansub fails are actually intentional. So they cant be failures. You want a sub fail, go watch Project A here on CR. I love the show, but I swear Google Translator could have done a better job. lol

You mean the fake episode 26, where they changed all the dialog to make it a yaoi? It's perverse, but funny

I think the Honey and Clover parody sub was a mix of pedo jokes and yaoi insinuations, but I cant remember its been so long. I had that episode on my hard drive for the longest time before the HD died on me.

I actually know the translator that put the note for the cow in there lol!

When I used to do the script editing for various fansub groups, I was a bit more serious about it, even took the time to work the slang into context with the average viewers for the series. But besides the obvious trolls, a lot of the variations comes from the translators themselves. I remember one of the translators I worked with in Yuurisan-subs was actually French, translating Japanese to English. There were so many inconsistencies in his translations, I remember having to rewrite most of an entire episode, changing over 300 lines heh.

But anyways there will never be a perfect fansubs, but you should stick to watching the releases from a single group, otherwise the differences between the translators and editors will become very apparent.

Not all fansubs fail. I like it when they include a bit of Japanese in the translation. Like saying onee chan, using honorifics, and using other words like that. But a lot of them are pretty funny.
