Click to show or hide Oguri Shun and Ishihara Satomi to star in Fuji TV’s upcoming Monday drama ![]() Fuji TV has just announced their Monday drama (‘Getsu 9′) for the upcoming summer season and it’s going to star Oguri Shun and Ishihara Satomi in a modern Japanese version of ‘Pretty Woman‘ called ‘Rich Man, Poor Woman‘. Oguri plays a billionaire and manager of a major IT company. Similar to the life of Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg, he had become a billionaire when his website, which started out only as a hobby, gradually started to gain more and more popularity. However, due to his lack of management skills and despicable personality, people often label him as swindler and otaku*. Ishihara, on the other hand, plays a very talented young woman who is about to graduate from the Department of Science at Tokyo University. However, due to the current scarcity of employment, she hasn’t yet received any positive feedback from any of the applications she sent out. She is veering towards leading a poor life in her future. One day, the pair happen to run into each other, which doesn’t end really well at first due to the disparity in their personalities, but they soon start to feel attracted to each other. This is going to be Oguri’s first starring role in a drama since his marriage to actress Yamada Yu. The last time he and Ishihara worked together was during the filming of the NHK taiga drama ‘Yoshitsune‘ back in 2005. He commented, “I’m really looking forward to this modern version of ‘Pretty Woman’. Of course I’m also looking forward to working together with Ishihara and to find out how this love story is going to develop.” Ishihara stated, “Although I’m really happy that I get to co-star with Oguri in a drama, I first got to know him when I was still in my teens (when we filmed ‘Yoshitsune’), which is why I’m feeling a bit awkward that it has to be a love story.” The rest of the main cast includes Aibu Saki as an up-and-coming female chef and Iura Arata (formerly known under his stage name ARATA) as her older brother and co-manager of the IT company, who together complete the love square. The midsummer evening romance ‘Rich Man, Poor Woman’ is scheduled to air its first episode in July. |

Oguri Shun, Ishihara Satomi, and Aibu Saki attends press conference for ‘Rich Man, Poor Woman’
![]() On June 21st, actor Oguri Shun and actresses Ishihara Satomi and Aibu Saki attended a press conference for their upcoming drama, ‘Rich Man, Poor Woman‘. The reporters asked Oguri to share a recent event that made his heart skip a beat. He responded, “When these two talked to me, I thought, ‘Wow, they are both very cute.’ I was given such a good role.” Meanwhile, Ishihara revealed an episode from their set in Omotesando, saying, “Oguri-san smiled at the pedestrians. I didn’t know he had such wonderful expressions. My heart skipped a beat at his smile as he only shows it once in a while.” ‘Rich Man, Poor Woman’ is a love story about a billionaire manager of an IT company named Hinata Toru (Oguri) and a college student named Sawaki Chihiro (Ishihara). Iura Arata will play Asahina Kousuke, the co-manager of Toru’s IT company, while Aibu Saki will play Kousuke’s younger sister Yoko. Regarding his role, Oguri commented, “He’s a real innocent character. It’s like a child grew up into an adult without changing. I feel really good playing this role. What do I have in common with him? Maybe just the fact that we both haven’t gone to college.” He continued, “I hope this drama will have some sort of impact. I feel we will be able to deliver something really interesting. I’m already looking forward to it.” ‘Rich Man, Poor Woman’ will air every Monday night at 9:00pm starting July 9th. |

miwa to provide theme song for upcoming drama, ‘Rich Man, Poor Woman’
![]() It’s been revealed that singer-songwriter miwa will be providing her new song, “Hikari e“, as the theme song for the upcoming Fuji TV drama, ‘Rich Man, Poor Woman‘. This is miwa’s first time being in charge of the theme song for a “Getsu9” drama. In the drama, actress Ishihara Satomi plays the heroine, a senior in college. Producer Masumoto Jun showed confidence saying, “[Miwa] observed the heroine’s feelings from a closer standpoint than us, and reflected those feelings in her lyrics. As a result, the song has an uplifting feeling and is also able to deliver painful love. It turned out to be a number that’s perfect for the drama.” miwa, who is also a senior in college, felt she could relate to the heroine after reading the script. “Every time I make a single, I start working on it while thinking about putting in something that would surprise people. For this theme song, I challenged myself to a new sound that hasn’t been used in my previous songs,” she said. “Hikari e” is scheduled for release on August 15th. During the final night of her tour on June 24th at Shibuya Kokaido, miwa told her fans, “My new single is different from the songs I have released until now, so please look forward to it.” ‘Rich Man, Poor Woman’ will air every Monday night at 9:00 pm starting July 9th. |

The first episode is awesome! I'm instantly hooked on the drama. The casts are awesome. All of them can act and seeing Oguri Shun and Ishihara Satomi together makes me feel happy. They look cute together! (I know he's married but let it be.
) This drama certainly makes me excited for Monday! :D (Note: Gifs not mine) By the way, anyone know where to download the theme songs? It's so beautiful and perfect with the mood of the drama. Love it! |
