I want to get some video output cables for my iphone 4 so I can watch my anime on my tv. I found a promising set, but the description says they work with all apps that support video out.

Does the Crunchyroll app for iphone support video out? Thank you.

Asking the Dev team.

Edit: We currently do not support external screen support. We're looking into adding this feature.

I was not able to find any information confirming this adapter works with crunchyroll

An easier solution is to just Airplay. There are several post on the forms saying this does work with crunchyroll app. I have also used this feature.

Granted you would need an apple tv that runs a 100$ but you get other features out of it. It will also allow you to airplay many other things to your tv as well including games and other video apps. Pretty sure HBO does not work though :(.

I forgot to mention the Apple Composite AV Cable but its such a shame to not watch new anime in HD , but again I was not able to find any information confirming this adapter works with crunchyroll

Oh well.
Thank you for your prompt reply. I look forward to seeing this feature added in the future.

That's strange, I'm sure I've hooked my iPhone up to the and watched Crunchyroll on it in the past.

I'll double check again tonight and update.

Just checked, you can use the Apple Digital AV Adapter to watch videos via the Crunchyroll iOS app on your TV. Works fine over Wi-Fi or 3G.

I may need to try this. TV in my room is much easier to watch than my computer monitor.

Wait, this isn't correct. There's an official post from Shinji himself that clearly states that the iPhone 4 and 4S (as well as the iPad) with the Crunchyroll app is capable of outputting videos to external displays. The relevant post can be found here: http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-677638/ios-crunchyroll-app-now-has-tv-out-for-premium-members
This was posted over a year and a half ago. Who on Earth did you ask about this?

I use this feature on a daily basis, mostly because the website's embedded player has a stuttering issue that has yet to be addressed. I am using the original iPhone 4 with Apple's official digital video adapter. I will, however, mention that the app has a bug that causes it to become unresponsive when you press the "Done" button during playback. This is pretty inconvenient, since you have to return to the Springboard and force the app to close before you can use it again. I hope this is addressed sometime in the near future, but other than that, I love it.

Huh!

Well, color me surprised!

Thank you for pointing me towards that. (And I will go poke at the person who told me otherwise.)

I bought the hd adapter to watch anime from my iPad crunchyroll app and it worked perfectly. But after I did the update, it won't play fullscreen on my tv anymore! Help!!
