it's yesterdays news but it's still news
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/117444-Guy-Ties-Up-4-Year-Old-So-He-Can-Play-Videogames

According to a court affidavit, one Heath Howe, a 27-year-old gentleman from Sarasota, was arrested after he tied up a four-year-old girl with rope and left her in the kitchen while he retired to the living room to play games.

The girl told police she didn't think she was being punished because Howe didn't say anything to her while he tied her up.

and the best part

The girl's mother returned home from the gym accompanied by a friend called Tiffany, and not only did she not freak out when she found her daughter tied up, but she didn't even bother to free her.

i'm shocked at this whole thing. what were they thinking?

That there American parenting at work... but in all honesty I can't understand why he tied up the child as that's just... irrational, surely there could have been better courses of action but it probably indicates a none too stable person. The mother is just as bad, not freaking out over the incident is one thing (which I'm fine with) but not untying the child... that's also irrational.

Both the parent and the man are probably unstable individuals to say the least, however I get the feeling that the child was an accident, although it must be stated that the article didn't cover all aspects of the story so it's difficult to get a good reading on what REALLY happened and WHY it happened.

Why didn't he just get the kid interested in his gaming (addiction)????
When my brothers and little sis use to bug me, I TAUGHT them how to play just so they would leave me alone
(and so I could win a lot). Share the LUV!

Wow this is ridiculous and completely uncalled for. All he needed to do was lock the kid in the closet

What you've never done that before? I do that all the time. Noisy little creatures always interrupt my serene playing time.

The "T" in toddlers stands for "tied-up."
