I joined in 2007 and I prefer the current Crunchyroll.

Is anybody from that era still here? I just realized how much time has passed since I've actually logged in on Crunchyroll and things are A LOT different her now. My profile's embarrassing, my comments 4 years back are terrible, and there's very little anime you can watch without paying. Anyway enough of that. . .

The only anime you have to pay to watch are the original Naruto, Fairy Tail and old Bleach episodes. Everything else is free. You just have to wait 1 week for simulcasts if you don't pay. And if you are bothered about waiting 1 week, then you could just pay. It's only $7 a month or if you get a year subscription it works out to only $5 a month. It's cheap.

So basically Crunchyroll was another illegal streaming site instead of being innovative and awesome? I can understand some of the complaints from international community (from my point of view) since they can't see nearly as much anime now but if you are in the US or Canada and complaining about this .... you're probably a spoiled little brat.

It's legal free anime supporting the anime industry with ads much shorter than they would be if it was on TV. What more do you want?

As for the forums and the general community .... yeah I wasn't here then but it sounds like it was better. If you want it to go back to how it was back then why not work on it?

Ah I came across crunchyroll when I was a hs freshman in '06. There were times I went hiatus for several months and came back, made a new account, made new friends, got in a mess or got bored and made another new account. This time around I've silenced my guestbook all together. lol

I definately miss the days when the music player was for everyone, not just premium members. I have a job now and can afford a membership, but I remember the frustration of having something awesome that expressed your individuality taken away so suddenly and stamped with a price tag.

The crunchyroll chat room was AMAZING too. (I think they got rid of it. I know they said they were eventually.) chatting with ppl was so much easier with the chat feature, I have fond memories of those chats (:

A good thing that has changed is the amound of anime they have has increased and the site is supported on lot of new devices. I'm glad c-roll is grabbing the right attention in the industry now that they are legal. ;P

Crunchyroll has definately changed since '06. I might change accounts again, but I doubt I'll ever leave for good.

Yup, there were so many cool things about CR back then. I admit I never participated in the community as much as I would have liked, but back then I was 13 years old and shy (now I'm 17 and shy .)

There were so many series and you could watch so many things of any kind of genre. I remember they also had manga for a little bit.
The site was a lot of fun.

Butttt I feel proud to be a member of the CR community now, and I can't really say that was true back then. CR now is 100% legal and still has a large amount of series (not as big as it used to be, but then that's only to be expected). I think that's really, really cool. Of course there's so many ways it could be better, some being more realistic than others. I'm just happy that CR managed to survive to today, now with content I don't feel ashamed watching. ^_^
