First time turning 18 I went out and bought several higher end cigarettes, Davidoff, Nat Sherman, Sobranie, Treasurer, and the sort. I stopped in November of last year, a short lived four months and 27 cigarettes later. If there's a reason, I don't know of any. I still have plenty and am saving them for when the times call for it (a funeral, a birthday, times of trouble, on my deathbed).

That's one way to put it. Apparently there's a local Ayahuasca group close to where I live. So you get the same experience (same psychoactive compound) but you're guided by a shaman and it's more way more gradual, and not like someone shot you in the head with a god bullet....

Lets say a pack of cigarettes costs $6; someone who smokes half a pack a day will therefore spend $21 per week on cigarettes; or about $1,092 per year.

If you start smoking at about 15 years old which is more or less common; assuming that you live to 75 years old, which you probably won't, you will spend $65,520 over a lifetime.

I smoked heavily for years and loved it even though it was terrible. I quit the moment I found out my eggo was preggo, because the only thing I wanted more than cigarettes was a healthy baby (I'd been trying for years).
I never picked the habit back up because I will only have one child, so if I started I'd never quit again due to lack of powerful motivation. I still miss it though, and get vicarious enjoyment from hanging around with people while they smoke. My life is way better without cigarettes though.

No.
My opinion is that it's just another form of escapism or stress reliever like religion.

Oh, no you didn't! (bring up the religion thing).......Religion is not a form of escapism or a stress reliever, and anybody who uses it as such is wrong in doing so.

Yesterday I was walking out of my towns store and a kid who was probably around 12 years old walked past me and went to the garbage can thing with the ashtray on top and started pulling cigarette butts out of it and putting them in his pocket. I swear to God the hair stood up on the back of my neck and a wave of rage just washed over me. A scene played out in my head where my hands shot out and grabbed the kid around the neck, shaking him like a tree branch screaming "are you fuc*ing kidding me??!!! Do you have any idea how many countless species of animals and human beings have died over the course of hundreds of thousands of years to give you the body you have now, enduring unimaginable pain and suffering just to survive and string together the chain of evolution that at its end spits out a sniveling, worthless, sack of sh*t thats just going to piss it all away. Where the hell is your dad? Cause I'm going to kick him in the nuts so hard he can never fowl the Earth with another abortion of a human being like you."

But then the daydream ended and I walked to my car and drove away listening to the soothing sound of "Melancholy Morning" by Joe Bongiorno.

No never smoked anything, drugs nor cancer sticks. Was offered though. Stuff smells like crap, and I'm not so insecure as to need to do something to "fit in" or look "cool". If it's not food, or medicine that you need, then you shouldn't put it in your body. I had two sisters that tried it in their teen years. One vomited immediately and never did it again, the other kept smoking until she got married and decided she wanted kids. She never picked it back up again. My dad was the same, he smoked, but when he married my mom he quit and never picked it back up. Bad thing about smokers, they pollute the air by the smoke and particles that are on their clothing, body, etc. (yes, the particles can expose someone to cancer risk) and they pollute the environment by chucking their butts or unfinished cigarettes on the ground (those things take years to decompose). I for one am sick and tired of seeing all the cigarette butts on the ground in my town and even in my f*king yard. Worst thing is all the damn people who leave that crap on our beaches. At the last beach clean up I went to, the top trash item were cigarette butts....several pounds of it on a small section of beach!

I've seen people in my town do that too...revolting. God knows what diseases the people who smoked those used cigs had.....talk about a double death wish.

No, my only fixation is coffee and other energy drinks, they're bad enough for my health without adding cigarettes to the mix.

Don't front on Psychonautics (from the Greek ψυχή (psychē "soul/spirit/mind") and ναύτης (naútēs "sailor/navigator") – a sailor of the mind/soul)[1] refers both to a methodology for describing and explaining the subjective effects of altered states of consciousness, including those induced by meditation or mind altering substances, and to a research paradigm in which the researcher voluntarily immerses him/herself into an altered state by means of such techniques, as a means to explore human experience and existence.

Chances are they're more enlighted than you with your narrow view of reality and consciousness.... Don't knock it till you've tried it. If you've smoked cigarettes you can't say shit about anyone smoking anything else...
