It actually doesn't harm the brain that much. I'm quitting after I graduate also. I quit cigs already.

Only once in awhile. People are like, "Don't start or you'll get addicted." Cry more, I don't get addicted to anything.

I smoke cigars, cigarillos, and the occasional (tobacco) pipe, but this stuff is quite expensive, so I do not do it often.

I used to smoke tobacco with a hookah sometimes with friends at home. I started that when I was 21 I guess, but by 22 I'd become bored with it and it didn't seem worth the health risks. Depending on the quality of the coal used it also sometimes gave me bad headaches. The instants are no good.

I smoke pot now because it is fun, and tastes and feels really good, but I'd rather eat or vaporize it since both are likely far safer. Cheaper, they are not, however.

I started when I was 25, when my girlfriend exposed me to it, and noted immediately that it felt pretty great and eliminated my insomnia almost entirely. The latter part had me hooked, but eventually a doctor got me on a beta blocker because I had high blood pressure for my age as well as suffocating panic attacks, and since then sleep has been a lot easier.

The risk of cancer and blood clots with some medications I take is on my mind pretty often, so I'd like to eventually only expose myself to it via healthier means when I can afford to. Financially speaking its just a really bad habit to have, but luckily it isn't very physically addictive. At the worst of it I was spending like $400+/mo on it and dipping well into my food budget to afford it. It was all I did and got very depressing. I will say it made Eureka 7 awesome, though =)

marijuana seems like a fortune for you eh? in my country, it's cheaper than smoking cigarettes but is also illegal(lifetime imprisonment cause the government does not tolerate drugs).

My lover smokes but I do not. It doesn't bother me i just know I have an addictive personality and a lack of self control to begin with and I can't afford a new obsession.

I smoked shisha/hookah a few years ago. That was the only time I've ever smoked in my entire life.

I actually plan to start smoking when I am of age.

My reasons is that I suffer through anxiety, and smoking helps the nerves relax. Frankly I find the smell attractive.

^ probably the stupidest thing I have EVER read in the history of foreverness. What this moron doesn't realise is that they have medication to help with major anxiety and they WORK. That doesn't matter though this person isn't going to bother doing research like that he is just going to start smoking.. SO MUCH LULZ.

In regards to the thread;
" Sure it looks cool " Just stop, you are almost as bad as this other guy. I honestly thought we were long past the time period when smoking was considers 'cool' but it would appear not.. I really do worry about the younger generation.

I started smoking when I was around 16 (20 now). Not because I thought it looked cool nor because I found the smell attractive, it was a stupid mistake and it is one I will pay for the rest of my life. I originally started because I was at that age where all I was interested in was getting really phucked up because I felt it helped my socialise. First time a had a smoke was when I was drunk and stoned, it gave me a massive head spin and I remember thinking to myself "no wonder people smoke these" From there the problem just escalated. No longer was I smoking to get a head spin and a feeling, I was smoking because I was enjoying it. What made this even worse was that I no longer got any feeling from smoking them.. yet I kept smoking. It doesn't make any sense I know, I only smoked for the head spin but when the head spins stopped.. I didn't stop smoking. That is the problem right there, even though I wasn't benefiting from it at all (no feeling what so ever) I still enjoyed smoking and I couldn't stop. When I was younger I would ask people why they would smoke if they knew it killed them, they replied because I can't quit. You never really can under those words "I can't quit" until you actually experience it for yourself. No amount of words can describe what is like to want to do something for NO reason and even though it kills you.. you still do it? My father died from cancer and so did his mother and father. I will be trying for a long time to try and give up and I might never make it.. I might never give up and I will probably end up dying like other members of my family have. The point is that I will always have this eternal struggle within myself and my biggest regret in life was choosing to smoke in the first place and thinking "having a few during the day wont hurt me" If anything in this world can break my heart, which not a lot can, it is reading posts like this by young people. If you have gotten this far and you are one of the people that agree with what others had said, PLEASE DO NOT EVER START SMOKING.

Live long and prosper children.

I smoke generally one to three times a week at most; just a bowl of pipe tobacco or a cigar.

For me I like the taste of tobacco as I sit on a grassy hill or park bench and enjoy being outdoors. It makes for a nice hour to hour and a half long break from the studying or makes for something nice to do while studying.

When I'm with a mate or few that just makes it all the better.

Of course, I'd stay the heck away from cigarettes, that's the stuff that seems to snag people.

I started secretly smoking when I was about 8 as my dad always had a stash in his bedroom.

My family caught me once or twice growing up smoking outside with other people, told me off and assumed that it was them offering me the cigarettes.

I smoked throughout the entire of middle and high school, not for popularity reasons, or to be different, just because I enjoyed it. My family still didn't realise I smoked even when I was 16.

Started smoking in the house around aged 16, also had been smoking weed for about 3 or 4 years at the time too (must point out here I was an intelligent kid and a kind and respectful one, not a deviant in any way). My brother and dad also smoked around the house too.

My mother died of lung cancer when I was about 18, ironically she was the only one in the house who never smoked.

I have started and stopped smoking on a few occasions, never with any real withdrawals or symptoms of addiction, I mainly did it on a social level or inbetween games of LoL or raid bosses in online games, etc. Worst point I was smoking about 60 a day.

Never so much as had a bad cough or chest infection before, always relatively healthy until about february this year I've had a horrible chest and my lungs fill with fluid whenever I lay down which is really restricting my ability to sleep or breathe when I try to sleep. Doctor's dunno what it is, but on the bright side I quit smoking this week and don't really intend to start again any time soon.
