I'm probably late in addressing this topic be anyways

Thinspiration also known as thinspo, according to urban dictionary thinspo is used by people suffering from eating disorders to help keep them inspired. The idea behind thinspo is that it helps motivate and inspire you to lose weight and become or stay thin.

So apparently its a common phenomenon on tumblr where young girls post pictures of thin women including celebrities with captions to keep themselves motivated to become skinny...in an unhealthy way. It's pretty fucked up, most of these quotes make it seem like these girls are doing it for a good cause and they share their tips and tricks with each other.

It kind of makes you more aware that all the celebrities used as thinspo models are no doubt undergoing some kind of eating disorder. your thoughts?

Well in the end it's their choice.
It's what's motivating them, it really isn't any different from posting a sign on
your fridge that reminds you to eat healthy.

If these girls want to look like a breeze can knock them down, then by all means.

personally I like girls with some meat.
They'd have more potential as a survivable mate during the zombie apocalypse of 2012.( in my mind )

"Be strong and get skinny" is an oxymoron.

Other than the fact the word is quite whimsical, I do not like oxymorons. Especially those involved with vanity.

.. and here I thought being healthy was more important than being skinny. Good thing I'm both! HARHAR! ..

Oh wait .. I'm a guy .. :C

Ahhh yes because nothing says hotness quite like the skeletal outline of a women's body.

Is this considered unhealthy? I was expecting more ribs showing to be honest. I'd be lying if I said I don't find this type of body attractive. It's thin, for sure, but being a runner myself this is a typical build you'd find on your average, dedicated female runner.

I think motivation is a good force, what it needs to be balanced with is common sense. Of course losing too much weight and being too thin is unhealthy for you and the people with eating disorders self-delude into thinking otherwise.

That one is thin, not skinny.

Being strong doesn't always mean physical strength like how much force your muscles can exert and how much mass you can lift. Just because someone is skinny doesn't mean they're not strong, lol.

Strength is also the strength of stamina, or strong lungs, strong heart, strong circulation to supply your body with needed oxygen and nutrients.

I know plenty of skinny people who run 6-10 miles per day. On the outside they look really wiry and skinny but they could outlast you in a sprint, a run, and their lungs and heart could take much more than you or I could.

damn straight.

That pretty much sums up crossfit.

To me that's INSANELY hot, not just cuz she's beautiful but look at her enduring that like a boss!

You can be skinny/thin and be strong as hell.

I think that's HOT too.

Look at that muscle definition, that tight body.

She looks like she can handle herself being stranded on a deserted island or being in the middle of a zombie apocalypse.

The idea of a woman who could out-muscle me or throw me around is kind of sexy, tbh.

I don't think you understand that just because a person's ribs are not showing, it doesn't mean that they are healthy. People do starve themselves to get these types of bodies, which most of the time, cannot be achieved in anyway with a healthy life style
Another person brain washed into thinking that all Victoria secret model looking bodies are "healthy". Thin is just a pretty way of saying skinny

Those legs can still lose a lot of meat, that's not skinny.

You're right, just because her ribs are not showing does not mean that she is healthy. She could be a smoker, have a hereditary disease, etc.

However, on the flip side with no information than just the picture you can't say she's unhealthy either. The truth cuts both ways, Ser Davos.

And yes, people can starve themselves to get that body type, or they can eat healthy and work out legitimately. And you can get skinny by starving yourself, but you can't really get "cut" with good muscle tone and definition without working out.

also some girls are that skinny by pure genetics.

It is what it is.

Like I said if certain girls have to starve herself to look like someone else, then that's on them.
I like a STRONG woman, inside and out. Physically and mentally.

This too.

Some girls just have small bones and a small frame. A lot of super skinny asian chicks I've seen come to mind. It's not necessarily that they're starving themselves, it's just they're naturally petite.
