Its enhancing conversation imo. Its another form of communication and I'm not able to talk on the phone most of the day.

There's only 2 instances when I hate texting:
1. When ppl text while driving
2. That person who NEVER answers their phone, but will text you back 30sec. after you call

I hate it when you're on a date/out with someone, and when noone is talking, they text on their phone, it's like what's the point? I mean instead of trying to engage in conversation with me you make the most obvious gesture of "There is funner people to talk to then this person with me."

Well shit.

Sounds like you should make more of an effort to be fun.

Its a staple of modern-day communicating, asides from that horrid thing we all know as FB, if not for texting, we'd be stuck with those otherwise awkward silent conversations, since the very people who do nothing but text seem even more stunted in everyday small-talk. Spare me, I die a little inside anytime I'm replied anything a mere letter short-such as [how are you?'] - "k"

Revert to the good ole' days, and open your mouths, y'know?

Not for me, anyway. I prefer talking over the phone with someone if I can't see them. I text if I have too. I'm not really the texting type.

But, I suppose I am thankful for it. I can still communicate with anyway from far away if I want to.

While I text quite frequently, I do believe it is ruining not the art of conversation, but the art of the written word. I work at a job where I get to see many, many college students' essays throughout the year. Whenever someone brings me a paper where the letter "u" has replaced the actual word "you," I want to punch something. Please don't use text shorthand for formal writing; it causes my inner grammar nazi physical pain and eye bleeding. That is all.
