Not lonely at all, I watch anime, play D&D with my friends, then watch more anime. Oh, I play Visual Novels, as well.

I think it depends on which otaku you are talking about.

Some are lonely and some are not.

Honestly I watch a lot of anime, but I had my heart broken last month. So now, I'm using anime as a crouch to hold me together from thinking about what happened that day... But to answer your question. I don't think that otaku are lonely because I know my classmates back in high school had lots of friends...

I watch anime off and on, but I do notice a drop in my social life when I am on an anime grind, but thats solely because I choose to watch anime instead of going out to drink and hang with friends! Another thing I believe in is that the word otaku is just another label. People that are emo or video game enthusiasts and what not could be lonely as well, but there are chances to make friends with other human beings and what not. The fact that you can meet other otaku and connect with them on levels more than other human beings is just showing that your percentage of making friends with them is higher. It doesn't necessarily mean you won't make friends with people who aren't otaku, but I also feel a lot of otaku share the same characteristics of being shy and not easily approachable or social. But who knows, maybe the generation will change that.

I'm not an otaku, but I'm a pretty avid anime fan. I even go to a few cons every now and then. With that said, I do wish I had more friends that are anime nerds like me. I only have a few friends from college that I really hang out with. I would love to have more, but sadly, that's not the case. So ultimately.........................................yeah, I am kinda lonely.

I... think romantically wise, yea

um... friend wise... I think they'd hang around more of the "nerdy" group.

but then again. I can't say I'm an otaku YET.

Don't worry. Just imagine yourself in an alternative Star Wars universe. You're this universe's Luke. But instead of the force, you have the right hand.

May the right hand be with you.
