god I just realized that many people who like anime are kinda lonely... no offence, but yeah, looks like it. In middle school, I have lot's of friends, but felt lonely in a way. But now I entered High School, like, I know every one in High school and i even talk with my Senpais XDD
I can say I have a large group of friends so... I'm not lonely any more But I saw a lot of people in my school who love anime and manga like me are lonely... also in this site :S
TBH, Anime is probably one of the greatest thing in my life and yes, I do consider myself an Otaku if i already watched over 100 mangas and read over 100 of them to, but try to be social! And if you try and it's hard for you, Never give up!

Uhm... Well I'm homeschooled and stuff so, maybe? o3o Guess it depends on the situation. I've got friends and all, but they're not really as in to anime and manga as I am. :\ My art classes and recreational stuff have ended so I end up bored. So most of the time I'me either on skype with my best friend or reading PokeSpecial, on youtube, drawing, or on pokespeani forums.

I like to call myself an otaku and i don't feel lonely. The only lonely part is not finding anyone else who likes anime in my city but it's okay, that's why i have CrunchyRoll

I'm otaku and know a lot of otaku. Some are lonely...I guess. But I don't think most are. I'm married to an otaku and we have lots of friends who are real fans of anime, manga, gaming and jp/k pop music and drama.

I organized and advised a middle school 'Otaku Club' for three years and noticed middle school was just a lonely time in general. Our club actually brought together kids from other classes that shared the same interests in anime, gaming, jp/korean pop idols, manga etc. Those kids didn't seem so much as lonely as without a place to just share and be themselves and geek out on their best interests. Even after closing the club for two years...these young people still are active and sharing their love for the anime/manga with more people. Never give up! Besides there's always CR.

I can't speak for anyone else but I am. I don't have a single otaku friend and the friends i do have like all the typical things like One Direction that I don't care for. I'm also more open to things and think more deeply about things partly because of all the anime I've watched, and that separates me from my friends too. We are just on totally different levels. They are more social and will do anything to have fun and I'm more intellectual and philosophical but introverted. Of course not all "otaku" are like me.

For real?!? Damn, that looks awesome! I wish I was in that school... I'd like to meet all sorts of people who like anime and manga just like me O__O I met a girl someday on facebook and we arranged ourselves to meet up someday and we had soo much the same tastes! We both liked yaoi, kpop, jrock, etc it was reaaalllyyy fun! So you can sometimes arrange meetings with other people that you never met in real life and live near you but you must at least know their facebook or be absolutely sure it's not a pedophile or something...like I asked her facebook and all and everything went just fine ^_^ We met at the mall it was pretty fun...I'm watching an anime right now named Oreimo and the subject talks a lot about this topic, you should watch it, it made me realize a lot of stuff on being a Otaku... Also, I'm not lonely, because I tried becoming a lot more social with people, but I feel so bad for the people who are stuck in their room without being social like Keima in The World God Only Know's, him, he chose's to not be social, but people who wish to socialise and all, it's sad...

heh I posted one this topic earlier and now that I took my final test before college and now in summer I must say I feel quite bored and lonely when it comes to anime, it really does suck when you have no irl friends that you can talk to about your interests, online friends are kewl and everything but when it comes to going out or doing something it really sucks when they talk about stuff you really can't relate to (mainly people I play sports with talk about doing drug xD and I never done drugs in my life and don't plan on it haha) they talk about sport players but tbh I don't watch sports only like playing them haha.

anyone else here feel that when they get to college you feel you will have the same problem I think I will continue to have? (that of coarse being no one to talk to irl about anime)
