For some reason this just popped in my head. I've only played D&D once and it was entirely men in the tabletop group. So I was curious as to just how many women actually play D&D tabletop, which version they play, what mix of male to female group members they play with and so on.

Just as girl video gamers were and in some small cases a minority compared with men I've noticed that as the years have gone on the sheer number of women playing video games has risen sharply. But the D&D scene is still very much a male dominated area. Or is it because I live in Scotland and very few women here play it but may be a different case outside my country? I don't know.

And why in the hell am I curious about this? ^_^ LOL

Why did you have to remind me of bad things?

I absolutely hate you.

Question: What's the worst thing to do to a Kender?

Answer: Lock him up, in jail. (Kenders hate confinement.)

Question: What's the worst thing to do to a Human?

Answer: Lock him up with a Kender. (Kenders never shut up.)

When I was a teen, playing D&D, I always wanted a Bag if Holding (unlimited encumbrance). Now that I am a wife and a mother, I actually became a Bag of Holding.

I used to play pretty often, and you're right, my group was entirely male, except for me. I'd like to start playing again... and the group would, once again, be entirely male, except for me... I play AD&D 2nd edition, though I just got my BF one of the new tabletop game sets, so I may be giving that a try soon enough. He's never played any D&D before, so I'm actually pulling him into it. Heh heh heh....

Truthfully, I've never heard of girls actually been interested in D&D. Learn something new everyday I guess ^_^.
Though I personally have never figured out the game. Lol.

Aside from that, shouldn't this be on a general gaming discussion or something? I don't mean to come in and be that one guy though, because this topic is pretty interesting. Lol.
