After watching beowulf, I've been wanting to make this topic and now I'm finally doing it!
Some of us are sensitive to parts or dialog from the movies and they just give us nightmares or phobias. A while back I was talking to my hairstylist Zusie and we were talking about movies and she mentioned "I cannot watch the Lord of the Ring Movies due to so many horse chasing scenes which just give me nightmares" Lol I told her I also have a fear of that kind but , mine is like the underwater scene from Beowulf. Not fear of the water but the combination of water + dark like almost nothingness just absolutely makes my heart stop or lose my lunch (thus the reason I dont buy food when I go to the theater).

Another thing I absolutely fear the most in movies is possesed people crawling on the ceiling. In the movie Constantine, there's a part in the beginning when the mother of an ill chinese girl was bringing the tea to her daughter's bedroom, when she opened the door she saw her daughter on the ceiling hissing at her. I tell you I almost passed out with that scene. To this date I still haven't seen the part again!

So Boys and Girls time to confess your weakness in films. or even link the scene of that particular movie.
Whatever you post on CR, stays on CR (I hope)

One scene that I can think of real quick is a scene from Saw III. I am absolutely terrified of scary movies! I'm one of those annoying girls that has a panic attack! when I see or hear anything remotely close to scary...like this "OMG!, OMG!, OMG!." I am absolutely embarass of this so I try not to showcase this in public.

I just happened to walk by a group of people watching in the living room. This particular part is when the girl had to dive into a hole on the floor full of needles. OMG! My eyes were half-closed while I clinged tightly to whoever was next to me. Pain and dirty needles, oh my!

Gad, the rape scene and the fire extinguisher. I never got over those scenes.

Also, anyone ever watched CALIGULA? Believe me, you'd puke.

Ahhh I searched this movie and it came out 1996 and I missed it cuz I was too busy running around with fake driver's License ;p. I will watch it while reading magazine so I got something to cover my eyes when I see ppl crawling on the ceiling. I knew posting this thread it's well worth it. I will get to see the scary movies I missed.

Lol Clamsin you're not the only, my ex is worst than that, half Italian, half cajun, 6'3 and with a quarterback frame and absolutely cannot watch scary movies, not even the trailers. We parted ways 2 weeks after he confessed that to me, we're just bestfriend now.

one of the most horrific scenes which I can still remember has to be in The Fly...Seth Brundle gradual mutation was pretty predictable. The process is believable too! Starts off with an addiction with sugar > Becomes more stronger (arm wrestling match) > Finger nails fall off > his whole body started becoming a cocoon and well, certain things started to fall off his body - quite gruesome..but the ending was very memorable, quite a tear jerker - I just can't forget the imagery!

the film even has the tagline: "Be afraid. Be very afraid."...

Without thinking .... the movie that clearly left an imprint in my mind was "Old Boy". The scene when Oh Dae-su cut his tongue off was absolutely horrific! I watched all the movies in the Vengeance Trilogy .... but "Old Boy".... everything about that movie traumatized me. (no nightmares, no phobia ... but it was to me very shocking)

I got the bad habit of watching movie at 3 a.m. after coming home from painting the town red Wednesday morning I decided to watch the 300 (great movie) pop the dvd in and got myself a yogurt, I was sitting down watching those damn previews and then this trailer came on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8lOnFPb5hg

It's a movie called Trick 'r Treat (coming out on holloween 2008) after 2:00 part, there's that crawling thing on the ceiling, scared the shit out of me, I wound up cleaning my yogurt on the couch and the floor. I just absolutely cannot stand it.

Maybe too late to give a reply but No, not the sex scenes, the ....I don't know what to call it, the insanity of it all! It's too human that it's inhumane. (I mean, yeah, we all know Rome was famous for ...sexual..perversities?) but he was beyond perversion. The whole movie just gave me weird thoughts about Rome's history.

To be that cruel just for the fun of it. It's sick. (I did feel sorry for him though, after his sister's death, he was like, reduced to nothing.)

Might as well respond here as well. I don't really get nightmares from movies, but imagery stays with me a long time, because I'm a very visual person. The one scene I think of when this subject comes up is in the director's cut of The Exorcist, when Regan is already possessed, and she comes down the staircase upside down and backwards on all fours.

It's hard to describe, but you can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-4f_NMUxcY
That is some freaky shit.
