My old school has a clear view on this subject http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_lh5fR4DMA.

This is very funny, and well worth a watch.

A little trivia this video is filmed about 60 yards from where this happend. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0SDc2YQWFw.

NEVER. All the ladies will either love me, or never talk to me again!

Nah, j/k, we could be friends.

It's easy for men and women to be friends. Sex isn't everything, the people just have to be mature about it.

Just an odd comment for the people to chew on....the question..."can they be JUST friends.." does this imply a life term sentences? I mean to be honest with everyone around here it's rare enough that you keep a friend of any gender for a lifetime....so shouldn't a short (relatively) friendship with a girl count? Then again if the question actually asking wether it's possible for two people of the opposite gender who are both heterosexual not be attracted to eachother and have a non-proffesional based relationship that is enduring for an extended period of time....well it seems like there are plenty of examples to agree with that.....so easy question right?

Yes. Why not? It's entirely up to the people involved and what they were REALLY looking for when they engaged each other.
Honestly people who think men and women can't be just friends are usually the people who want to screw everything.

You make friends with your head, not your genitals.

When i was in high school i thought that guys and girls could definitely be friends without anything happening cause i had a ton of guy friends but as time went on they all ended up wanting something more or i found out that they secretly liked me and after i found out it wasn't the same again.

i refer you to the song that goes

You, you got what I need but you say he's just a friend
And you say he's just a friend, oh baby
You, you got what I need but you say he's just a friend
But you say he's just a friend,

If one is attracted to another then the answer is NO (exceptions dont count).
A lot of women seems quite Nieves about it.

I've always had way more female friends than male, so I'd have to say yes. But then, I'm the sort of sensitive yet straight male that women like to hang out with. I can't say I never had sex with any of them, but we almost always went back to being friends afterward, for I'm "fun to be around but not relationship material". There were also plenty that I didn't. So yes, it's possible, but there's no guarantee that that's all it will be in the end.

And by the same token, I've been friends with quite a few gay guys with no sexual tension on their end, so that's possible too. Maybe I'm just not sexy for that side of the fence.

The majority of people I consider to be good/best friends, all my life, have been male. Gay, straight, transvestite, whatever. The answer is yes. But if you can't control your genitals around the opposite sex, that's your own problem.
