For a good JRPG and "anime style" experience definitely go with Star Ocean The Last Hope International. You can choose to use the original Japanese voices and whether the portraits are CG or drawn. I enjoyed it.

The up coming game, The Last Of Us by Naughty Dog looks very good too. They made the Uncharted games. It's due for a late Jan - early Feb release.

Borderlands 2. Loot and shoot style ... very fun. Great game design in all aspects of the game - very very few gripes or callouts about issues.
I'm not really a big FPS gamer but this one drew me in.
