You don't really want me to become a police officer do you? I'd be putting white powder in everyone's pocket.

I am thoroughly confused here, lol. But no, wouldn't want you to be a cop.

I don't see the point of fining people who swear...........and how will you regulate it? It would remove police officers from doing more important jobs to deal swearing? Waste of time

One more incredulous example of creeping incrementalism trampling your liberties. Sadly, this is just the beginning. Similar to what cronozj suggested: vote the bastards out!! Don't put up with the loss of free speech rights even if it is cursing.

You know... why do beginnings have to be sad? Some people here seem to think that the Federal government are implementing these laws. We are the United STATES of America... meaning that each state has its own working government. So what if Massachusetts wants to try something new in our failing economies? That's the thing about our country... we have the ability to try things out to adapt with the times on a smaller level, figure out the quirks... and improve ourselves as a nation. If things work out in some states, more are going to try it out. If its not looking so hot for a particular state, most won't try it out. If we never tried new things, we'd never advance.

I personally don't find the fine encroaching on your first amendment rights. Its not like you not being able to say "Fuck" is going to limit the effectiveness of your opinion. The Freedom of Speech in my eyes, was ratified so the topic of your "speech" won't get you in trouble... such as speaking out against the government like you all are doing right now. That's my view of the "Freedom of Speech".

And i can imagine that getting around this law will be pretty easy... Just don't cuss around people who would be offended by it enough they would call the authorities on you.

**Edit** At a second glance, I'm pretty sure that the only way for them to fine you would be for you to cuss in front of a police officer or some kind of official. So... this law probably came about as a means to prevent our police officers from being cussed out by criminals. Do you think the fine men and women that serve in the police force need to be cussed out on a regular basis? Go watch Cops sometimes and count the bleeps.

You wouldn't be able to do that if you met me in person.

I'm sure you are attractive, but I would still turn you down. I'm not the type to have extra-marital relations.

People who are that type don't get married. Yet cheating still exists. Why is that?

There's merit in what you have written. My concern stems from other vices lawful entities are trying to legislate into the high moral ground like smoking. I don't miss smelling 2nd hand smoke in restaurants and other public places when I visit. Conversely, I find it disturbing that US citizens now have to stand outside certain buildings just to light up. The incrementalism has crept from allowing any individual freedom to enjoy a certain oral sensation anywhere to becoming mindful where and how far away, or near, certain areas. And this limiting of smoking isn't going to stop here. Motions have been tried, thankfully denied, to further limit smoking outside. It's coming down to personal space in your own home as the last logical place to light up. I don't smoke and don't intend to anytime soon. But if my neighbor or friend wishes to light 1 up I feel it's his/her perogative to do so, not the government's.

You just said people who do cheat don't get married? That's...weird. And untrue.
I don't cheat, would never cheat, and will never have sex with anyone other than my current wife. That might just be me, but what other people do doesn't affect what I do.
