Oh, when you said "edit anime and ruin it" I thought you meant the way 4Kids edited One Piece and literally ruined it. Out of 200+ anime you hate what they did to 4-5 shows and therefore the entire company is trash?

What they did with Crayon Shin-chan,and Keroro Gunsou are parody dubs, funny ones at that. I doubt anyone would have been interested in those shows if they hadn't done that. The Japanese companies behind those shows don't seem to care about the dubbing.

Well considering they're massively popular shows all over the world.. it says a lot of Americans couldn't get into them without turning them into Family Guy crude humor.

Don't just say 'no one would be interested' when they're some of the top anime out there. Shin-chan more than Keroro, but still. You're just trying to make excuses for Funimation giving them terrible dubs.

FUNimation ruined Dragon Ball?!?! Are you serious?! It may be hard to believe but Dragon Ball would not be where it is today without FUNimation and vice-verse. Dragon Ball and DBZ where near the end of it's run in Japan and had been dubbed into a few other languages like Spanish and there wasn't much fan fare out of the world market, until FUNimation got a hold to it making it the icon show of the 2000's

I don't care what dub watchers care about or think or if it's popular with them.

The dub of Dragon Ball was awful, censored, and completely inaccurate to the original version.

1) Edit all the names to American

"All the names" is an overstatement. I wasn't aware Kudo and Edogawa were considered "American" names. More often than not, the Japanese family name was retained (probably because it wasn't used that often).

2) Stick it on Adult Swim when it's a kid's show in Japan

I think you can blame Adult Swim for that...unless you expected Funimation to turn down a licensing deal.

Beats me why they kept those yet changed everyone else. It's dumb having half-Japanese half-American names.

It's for the best the show bombed. I'd hate to see how they handle later episodes where Japanese is vital to the clues and murders, and with Funimation determined to whitewash it, it'd all be lost.

It was funny seeing their names printed on papers in the show as their Japanese name when you keep hearing their English name; which would be confusing for people that didn't know both the English and Japanese names.

Actually, a show like Detective Conan would probably do better Streaming than DVD as it is a show designed to be watched week to week or at your own pace rather than in bundles. It's not even important if you miss/skip an episode unless it's a 2 part episode or a rare Main Story episode.

I guess it really doesn't matter if you hate it or anyone else, FUNimation and Toei are still printing money off that "awful" dub

Sure the script may have been changed but I still don't see this censorship other than covering up Blue's pedophilia which had no impact on the overall story
