I recently got my new laptop (HP Pavilion dm4-2184NR) and I have to say that I am in love with this machine. Its faster, sleeker, and more capable than my old Dell Vostro 1510 which was like a rock. This is my nerdy side coming out, but I would like to know more about what you guys are using. Maybe I can find my next laptop here haha

LAME! When college comes around you have to get a laptop. The vast majority of kids I see have macs which I despise because of the unnecessary price tag and the pompous superiority it gives its owners.

Inspiron N5030 Pentium Dual Core 2.3Ghz for $400, I bought it on sale during the Winter Holiday. I want to upgrade my Hard Drive(currently 250 GBs) and Ram (2 GBs) though.

I would assume its dependable if you have had it for so long. And yeah! I was looking at the g6x in particular. But I found a better deal with this dm4. HP makes really pretty computers |

Pentium is also an lower quality chip, but it suits everyday surfing and multitasking. Right now you find something much better for $400. I bought this HP pavilion dm4 for $440 and its i5 processor (2.4Ghz and 3.0Ghz turbo) with 640 GB hard drive and 6GB RAM |

It's not really good, but it's also not that bad. It's average and something I wouldn't recommend. I want the laptop my mom has or Alienware.

Acer and Dell are two brands you want to avoid. Performance wise they're average, but their durability is pretty bad.
Apple is for people who don't mind being ripped off. If you're going for something, aim for one that has already been in the computer parts market for a while. Dell only grew so much because they won contracts with the government. |

i think thats it, but iv currently got precise pangolin on it right now because i got sick of windows and its lack of power to complete tasks more complicated than downloading and installing crap ware, not to mention its a massive target for malicious software. and of course i still have my gaming rig i built |

I currently have a MacBook Pro which I use for music and video software, but I eventually want to get a laptop for gaming from Asus or MSI.
