What do you think which books are a must-read during someone's lifetime? Which books that you've read would you recommend and which ones would you like to read?

The little prince-by Antoine ST expury is really very good, even if it is a childs book. Made me see the world in a new way, if that makes sense. I can see why its so popular, especially in Europe.

The Book theif-Markus Zurak is brilliant as well. It's about a girl growing up with her foster family in Germany during WW2. The whole story is narrated by Death himself. Very sad though, so not for people who don't like depressing books.

Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein is wonderful! There are so many I would recommend but that's my number one pick out of any genre.

I found the main character in 'the catcher in the rye' really obnoxious, couldn't finish it he was so annoying. I want to read to kill a mocking bird but havn't got round to it yet.

Oh, you're talking about Holden Caulfield. I can see how he can be annoying, but I find him to be an extremely quirky and ultimately sympathetic figure. It is a tale about teen angst and isolation though. I just find the way he describes people and his mannerisms endearing.

To Kill A Mockingbird is probably my favorite book of all time. If I had to choose one book to bring with me, this would be it. There's a reason why Atticus Finch and Scout are two of the most beloved fictional characters.

I absolutely loved American Gods and Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. I recommend those two to everyone I talk to in which the topic of books comes up. I also loved Mardock Scramble by Tow Ubukata. The actual books not the anime/manga version. I would say though that Mardock Scramble isn't for everyone but definitely should be looked into at least.
